AIVAS was right. The Polar Bear Egg did contain a bronze who was still struggling to emerge from his egg, but he wasn't the only one. That wasn't immediately clear, because most of the attention was on the little green who was still scooting her way toward the candidates, making a dash for it and then flattening herself out on the sand as though she could disappear into it before jumping up again and racing forward once more. The little green wasn't the only thing to be seen on the sands, however. The Emperor Penguin Egg was hatching. It hadn't shown any signs before now, but that didn't stop it from going all in. Bits and pieces were cracking off of the front, and then claws appeared, scratching the egg from the inside. As the egg gave way under the onslaught, the front half of another bronze could be seen. Just the forelegs at first, but quickly, a nose poked out of the tiny shell, and the dragon uncurled itself from inside the egg where it was packed very tightly. Once the bronze was out on the sands, it was clear why it could fit into the egg the way it had. There was a lot of body to the bronze, but its neck and tail were quite short, although far from being weird looking, it just looked oddly... jolly in a way. it too had quite fantastic headknobs. They arched up and back, with many different peaks jutting off in all different directions, and then they flattened out at the very top before jutting into more peaks there. As the dragonet stretched, some of the newly hatched firelizards and glidelizards seemed to perk up and turn to look at the dragon, who stared right back at them and then threw back his head and let out a noise that was confusing to most for a moment, before it became clear it was a laugh.

The smallest green, who had just reached the end of the sands, froze when she heard that laugh, and turned toward her brother with a slow look. The black pearl too, who was still just standing in place, turned to stare at her bronze brother, who, as she watched, had a green firelizard land lightly on the top of his left headknob. The bronze wiggled his short neck slightly, causing the firelizard on top of his very tall headknobs to sway, but not dislodge, and then the bronze started forward. The brown had been the only dragon who was fully hatched not to pay his bronze brother much attention, and he too had started toward the candidates, although he kept himself decently away from his bronze brother. He eyed him with, while not a wary glance, but with respect that the brown had otherwise not shown to the other dragonets. It was the smallest green who moved first, though, her sides heaving deeply as she worked up the courage, she lurched to her feet again and made the rapid dash across the last little no man's land of sand that stood between the end of the eggs and the candidates. She made quite a picture, a brilliant streak of dark emerald green that blurred as she reached the candidates, skidding to a halt in front of the first one, although she balked there as well. Oh, no no no, not you.... Oh, oh, what do they say... scrap it? The green was muttering to herself, although snippets of what she was saying was being broadcast to those around her. It seemed that she just wasn't being cautious and that her words were really meant more for herself. Scrap it, I can't find him.... The green slunk along close to the ground, barely casting a glance up before quickly and shyly turning her head back to the ground as she tried to figure out which candidate was supposed to be her rider.

The little green paused when she came to the black pearl, and did manage to look up at her with a little more assurance. You... you too? The black pearl glanced over at her much smaller sister, and then very slowly dipped her head. The green came over and nuzzled the black pearl's side before easily slipping under her sister. They... they're here. I just know it. I believe in you too. Keep looking! It seemed that the green was destined to impress first, but the bronze was not to be outdone. Although his legs were a bit shorter than they should have been, as well as some of his other limbs, the bronze from the deceptively small Emperor Penguin Egg had seemed to have a specific track in mind, and he was moving along it, long wings out so that he took up more space as he went. He had a glidelizard on his shoulder now too, a little quartz who was snuggled into the dip between his shoulder and where his wing connected. He was collecting them as he went, somehow. A blue firelizard popped from between and squeaked as it dove down and landed on the bronze's back, clinging gently to his rear so that he had a fun ride as the bronze made his way along the line of candidates, quickly and neatly stepping around his little green sister without a glance and stopping a little way away from the black pearl, who was watching him with a mixture of trepidation and curiosity. Vatoz! The bronze shook himself again, dislodging the pets who had roosted on him for a few moments, before they settled back in to their spots and all glared down at Vatoz as though the bronze's new rider dared to disturb them instead of their living perch.

Good morning, Vatoz. And it is a good morning, don't you think? I'm finally here, after all. I am Wapitieth. Try saying that fast, and you might end up with a tangled tongue! The bronze laughed again and took another half step forward so that he was right up against his rider, tilting his head this way and that and making the green on his headknobs make happy noises from the sudden fun ride. Ignore them. They'll go away if I tell them, but I rather like them. Do you think I can make them do more things? We should try that. They could get me food, if you want, instead of you. I bet they would do it too. The bronze chuckled to himself. He seemed to be rather fond of whatever little jokes kept popping into his head, because the chuckles didn't seem to be linked to what he was saying. What do you think, Vatoz? I think they make rather fetching additions. He paused and turned briefly to stare at his green sister, who had just started making noises not unlike the green on the top of his headknobs before he dismissed her in favor of staring into his rider's eyes so that impression rainbows shone there. The green seemed to have discovered something in the sitting candidate on the sands, hurrying toward Cael and nearly vibrating with delight. Caelixstyn! I found you! This is amazing. I have never felt this way before! The small green stopped just shy of her rider, sides rising and falling heavily as he recovered from the excitement and exertion before her face seemed to turn even more green, if that was possible. Oh, I didn't mean... I'm sorry. I forgot. I'm supposed to tell you who I am. I am Zuuleikath. I didn't mean to keep you waiting. I'm so sorry, Caelixstyn. I've only been out of the egg for a little time and already I'm messing things up.... Slowly, as if incredibly embarrassed, the little green crept forward and turned to look up at her rider, the rainbow appearing in her eyes and contrasting heavily with the dark green on her hide.

Bronze Wapitieth of Vatoz

.../Character Rank///: bronze

.../Character Codes///: b79c53, 382707, ead9a8, 44330b, 79663c
.../Character Appearance///:Wapitieth's hide color is more brownish bronze than any other color. He's still a bronze, and bronze there absolutely is in his hide, but there's plenty of brown too, and a bit of almost gold. All of his hide is dulled out, and there isn't any vibrant or saturated color on his hide anywhere at all. Most of his hide is a deep browny-bronze, characterized by a dull sheen to it. This deep brown-bronze gets slightly lighter on Wapitieth's neck and chest, and a little bit over his front legs, but otherwise not much. A lighter version of the brown-bronze, that maybe has a tinge more gold in it than the rest of his hide. This lighter goldish color appears in a band with no sharp edge along the outside edges of Wapitieth's wings, and at the very tip of his tail. This color appears on both the front and the back of his wings, and it is the only color to appear there besides the darker bronze. Wapitieth doesn't have an incredibly intricate hide, meaning that his markings are very intricate, but they don't appear all over his hide. Mostly his markings appear on his sides, the under sides of his wings, and around his eyes. Beyond that, his hide is just a gentle wash of browny bronze that ever so slowly shifts from lighter to darker, but even that isn't too noticeable, apart from the maker of dulled bronze sheen to a more intense sheen. The markings that Wapitieth has on his hide are large swirls that curl around themselves and branch off in different directions. These swirls are made up of lots of little lines that all seem to follow the same pattern, but seen from afar, these lines look like ice crystals that are growing over Wapitieth's hide like ice crystals grow over windows in the dead of winter, creating little fern patterns that twist and curl and never seem to start or stop anywhere in particular.

Unusual shapes are the hallmark of how Wapitieth looks. He has an obscenely short neck. So much so that he can only extend his head a few feet and it is just long enough for him to took his head to the side, but the long, graceful neck of his fellow dragons will never be his. The same goes for his tail. It is short, squat, and will never reach the ground unless he is laying down. He will have greater difficulty breeding because of this, but he is also a dragon who finishes what he starts, so despite that difficulty, he will actually be quite a prolific breeder. His head is angular at the front but towards the back, it melds with his neck quite seamlessly, so that it's hard to see where one begins and the other ends. His headknobs are quite interesting. They are in the correct position for headknobs, but they are quite long and very thin, and as they extend backwards, parts branch outwards to give him little headknob spokes that come off the main branch in different areas, with the very top part being flattened with little finger-like headknob extensions coming out in six different areas like a fan around each one.  His back legs also are short, although not quite to the degree that his neck and tail are, and just make his front legs, which are normally proportioned for a bronze of his size, as long as his back legs. He's not an overly large bronze, and will end up around forty nine feet. Most of this size is in his body, so actually he is a large bronze, but he doesn't have the correct proportions to fill out the rest of his potential length. His wings are very long and very thin, and he will have great maneuverability in the air, although his stamina will be lacking. This being said, he will often use his maneuverability to his advantage and will absolutely be an asset in the air for his wing once he's old enough. His bone structure is a little bit on the delicate side, although not hugely, and despite his shortened neck and tail, which will undoubtedly give him a very odd appearance, he will have a somewhat graceful appearance as well as in the air, where he will have a surprising amount of stamina for his maneuverability. He will at the very least wear his strange appearance well and won't allow it to bother him in the slightest.

.../Character Personality///: Wapitieth falls into that mischievous and ever so slightly cavalier category of bronze. His personality can be described as chaotic neutral. He isn't evil and won't find any sort of joy in other people's pain, but he won't go out of his way to make them happy either. He is in this world for himself and for the only other being that matters to him, his rider. He is exceedingly clever and very intense, as well as punctual and precise. Everything he does has his full and undivided attention and it is near impossible to pull him away from something once he has started it. He becomes wrapped up in things and cannot untangle himself from them. He is a dragon that, despite his lack of clearly defined morals in the eyes of others, does have certain peculiarities about him. He will always finish what he starts, and he is very clear and concise. Punctual, factual, and organized are three things that Wapitieth always makes sure he is. Not for the sake of others, but for his own peace of mind. His moral compass is set firmly in the grey area, and although it might shift slightly one way or another, he will never see the world in black and white, and neither will he want to. He is perfectly content with not being good and not being evil. He is a bit of a practical joker, and it is here that his ability to command armies of bondable pets comes in handy for him. Did you want three thousand clinklizard scales in your room? No? Too bad. Not you have them and Wapitieth is off chuckling mightily about it somewhere. He never acts innocent, and he doesn't enjoy the idea of being something he is not. Good and evil, right and wrong, all of those things are just boring to him, and it will be quite clear when Wapitieth uses any of those terms that is is either being hideously sarcastic or deadly serious, and although he is sarcastic a lot of the time, it will be clear what he means when he uses those words and other words like them. Generally, besides his rider, Wapitieth is a solitary dragon. The pets don't count. He thinks of them as minions to do his bidding and not as friends. He lacks some of the natural empathy of other dragons, but is rather like a lot of other bronzes in his "I am best" attitude, or perhaps it's more true to say that that empathy shifted to animals and away from humans. He sees the grey, not the black and white, and that will actually become very useful to the Weyr because he is able to discern the ever so slightest shifts in the grey that others are completely blind to. His knowledge of this topic will be incredibly valuable to the leadership of the Weyr, which may indeed fall to him sometimes. He is not bad, not in the slightest, and if he thinks something will be fun, he will be all over it. That being said, he is not a typical bronze, but again, neither would he want to be. Being something typical would be incredibly boring to him.

.../Character Mindvoice///:Bright and chipper, Wapitieth's voice has a spark to it, even if it isn't what people were expecting from him. It feels pleasantly warm and cozy in the mind. It's very nice to listen to for how comforting it is, and also for the slight tickle it gives you. That tickle isn't annoying, but rather makes people grin and giggle slightly. It is a giggle that puts people in a better mood than when they first arrived. The spark analogy is fitting, because the actual sound of Wapitieth's voice is that of a crackling fire burning merrily away. The shift of logs and crumbling of spent embers can easily be distinguished in his voice, and it's a very bright and welcoming sound. There is another set of sounds to his voice. The whistle of wind down a chimney or under the door through a very small crack. This doesn't do anything to diminish the warmth of Wapitieth's voice, which seems to have an eternal quality to it. It is very much like the night, but not the deep dark scary night that holds nothing but terrors and horror, but rather the soothing and calm night where those nasty things are kept safely outside. Love, warmth, comfort. These are the qualities that Wapitieth's voice holds. Even if his personality is not quite in sync with his voice, most people won't notice, and indeed might even be fooled by. His voice will still be one people want to hear. Especially when they need that little spark that his voice contains, they need that little but of comfort and relaxation that listening to him can bring them.

Green Zuuleikath of Caelixstyn (Laedya)

.../Character Name///: Zuuleikath
.../Name Meaning///: Brilliant Beauty
.../Character Age///: 0
.../Character Birth Turn///: 3361
.../Character Birth Season///: Winter

.../Character Picture///: user posted image

.../Character Rank///: Green

.../Character Codes///: 00e250, 00ebd8, b1e9bc, 002a08, 007516
.../Character Appearance///: Most of this little girl's hide is a deep, rich emerald green. There are very bright and vibrant aspects to her hide, but most of it is very dark. A good portion of her hide is this deep emerald green and appears on the bottom of her hide. Overlaid on this, on her dark green appears, creating a very dramatic shadow to the emerald green so that deep, craggy looking valleys seem to appear. On the tops of the emerald peaks, a very light green-white appears. Closer to the emerald green side on this white, the green fades slightly, and becomes more vibrant on the side facing away from the emerald green. These peaks appear on her wings and above them are more markings. These are the vibrant markings on Zuuleikath's hide. They are swooping lines that seem to dance around each other on all sides of her wings. They are a bright green, heavily saturated and tinged ever so slightly with an incredibly small amount of blue. These lives seem to glow and stand out incredibly vividly against the rest of Zuuleikath's hide. The ends of these lines all fade away and each line seems to have a different size to it. They appear to come forward and backward, creating a sense of depth on Zuuleikath's hide. Descending from these lines, seen and unseen, are streaks of a slightly faded green color that mirrors the lines very closely and each line seems to have its own streaks emanating from it. These streaks also contribute to the sense of depth on Zuuleikath's hide. They are very clearly layered over each other, and how far they come down her hide seems rather arbitrary. These streaks absolutely come down over the mountain peaks that appear on her hide and the brightest lines that the streaks come from seems to cast a heavy glow over her entire body. The lines are a source of light for the markings on her body. Barely noticeable, because the lines themselves, along with the streaks, are so overpowering on her hide, is the background color on the top part of Zuuleikath's wings that house the lines. This color is a slightly paler green, but still has a lot of grey in it, and that is part of the reason the vivid lines stands out so well.

Zuuleikath is an exceedingly tiny green. She will only ever grow to be seventeen feet long, with most of that being her tail and neck, with all of her body being equally delicate and petite. No one would ever be able to see her carrying a bit of firestone on her person while she flew, let alone a fully grown rider. That is where Zuuleikath's impressive headgear comes into play. She might be a fragile little creature, but resting on the back of her head, extending outward and back, spreading out to quite a wide breath is quire and impressive structure that somehow appears exceedingly delicate. It is very thin, only thickening around the edges which have some bulk to them. Long, think horns extend upwards from the top of this crest, two of them, paralleling each other. These are not headknobs but horns, darker in color than the rest of her hide except the dark green on her sides. This crest seems to grant Zuuleikath her marvelous telekinetic abilities. Her diminutive size won't mean anything, and she will be able to fly with the best of dragons, rider and supplies intact with no issue. This strange marvel aside, Zuuleikath looks like fragile, spun glass. Everything about her appearance makes her look as though she will snap if even a gentle breeze should brush against her. She has some padding and muscle to her body, but not a lot. She puts people in mind of a gentle lady of lore, who's disposition is sickly even if her heart is full of hope. Luckily, despite her size, Zuuleikth isn't sickly at all and will be quite a hardy creature, her looks having no bearing on her other physical disposition. Her wings are long and thin, spindly and as delicate looking as the rest of her, but she will use them as much as her telekinesis to fly. She will not stand far off of the ground, and her rider will be able to straddle her shoulders with their feet still on the ground. She has short legs, and although her shoulders and hips are wide enough to support her rider, they are just barely so. She is an exceedingly flexible dragon, able to twist and turn in the air with the utmost grace, even without her telekinetic abilities. She can bend herself almost in half, and will be one of the fastest flyers in the Weyr. Her size will, however, cause major issues when she flies and with breeding, and although she will be caught, the males who catch her will usually be too big in all areas to complete the flight satisfactorily. This is rather sad because Zuuleikath will rise nearly double the amount of times other greens will, and would otherwise be quite a prolific mother, even if her body isn't big enough to carry more than two eggs at a time.

.../Character Personality///: Demure and naive, Zuuleikath will often be surprised and embarrassed by the world. She gets very flustered when she is embarrassed, and fumbles worlds. Although she is a green, and it is hard to see, she does blush quite often, and heat can be felt radiating heavily from her when she is embarrassed. Although she will never lose the naive quality about her, and will always be a shyly proper dragon, she also will be loyal to the end. Zuuleikath is a very encouraging individual, and although she works best, by far, in a support role, she will be exceptional in that role. She is a little hidden cheerleader, especially to her rider, to whom she will always defer but also to whom she will lend her hidden strength without question. She is not a stupid dragon, by any stretch of he imagination, but she is shy and will not want to display anything to those around her. That hidden strength that Zuuleikath has is quite amazing, but she will only use it to help her rider. She is very mousy and will never have too many friends. She does have a sense of humor, but it is an innocent humor, devoid of anything explicit. She is a peacekeeping dragon, and the only time she will speak up out of turn or when not spoken to is when someone is in an argument. She hates conflict and if its between her and someone else, she'll happily roll over for them, but if it's other people, she will speak up, and try and moderate those arguments. She will be good at it. She has a natural talent for deescalating situations, but being a meek creature, she won't explore that side of herself much. She will hide behind her rider and a positive attitude as much as possible. There is a cautious demeanor hiding curiosity, and a lot of  love bundled into this dragon. She will idolize her rider above all other things and her inner light will shine brightest when her rider is near. She feels safe when around her rider, and look to them for protection. Not just easily embarrassed, but easily frightened, Zuuleikath has a skittish side to her. She will eventually overcome this for the most part, but it will take her time. Despite all her flaws, Zuuleikath does have the ability to try very hard and will be highly successful at the few things she does try her hand at. She will eventually gain some confidence in herself, at least a little bit, but her role will always be one in the background, cheering on others and supporting them with all her might.

.../Character Mindvoice///: A very quiet mild voice graces Zuuleikath. It has a melodic quality to it, although it simply seems to flow very well more than having actually a musical voice. Her voice is very flowing, trailing from one word to the next, and has a strange veiled quality to it, as though Zuuleikath was speaking far quieter than she actually could. It is true that her voice will never be loud at all, except for very specific circumstances, like when she's along with her rider, and getting the attention of anyone but her rider will need a lot of effort on her part for people to notice her. Her voice sounds like a pure and rather celestial girl's, full of happiness and light, and very high pitched, if quiet. Her voice doesn't really have a strength behind it, but it does tend to waiver. There are some natural sounds to her voice as well that overlay her actual words, further obscuring them from other people. The sound of the wind appears, not a howl, but to cover Zuuleikath's voice, it doesn't need to be. It's a gentle rush of wind, holding a slight echo to it, reverberating the sound back and forth, which sometimes includes her words, although that only happens on occasion. There is also a sound that isn't quite natural, but it certainly isn't the sound of a voice or any other "natural" noise. It's more of a singular note, but instead of being annoying, this sound takes place even behind Zuuleikath's words and actual voice so that it helps tie the rest of her voice together and adds to that melodic tone that makes her voice pleasant. it is a strange voice, but not one that is overly memorable for most people, partially, or rather mostly because it is actually difficult to hear over her real words. They are quiet and hidden, peaking out from behind the other sounds in her voice so that most people will struggle to understand her. For her rider, Zuuleikath voice will sound different. Instead of hidden and wispy, her voice is crystal clear and the note that accompanies it is the beautiful pitch perfect note of crystal being chimed.

--- Tobas ---

No, wait, the green hadn't chosen Vatoz after all. Blinking, Tobas watched it move on.

The tiny green was moving, and another bronze Hatched, and that one really did go to Vatoz. He was sure he was right this time. Maybe it was the heat, confusing him.

And the tiny green - to Caelixstyn. Tobas did not envy him - the green might never fight Thread.

Or wait, maybe he did, wouldn't that let him off the hook? But no.

He might want to escape fighting Thread, but dragons were meant to fight and he wouldn't wish not being able to on one of them. Poor girl.

The other bronze was still trying to Hatch, the Gyrfalcon brown was just kind of sitting there. The black pearl looked confused. Lost.

He frowned.

The brown going Between he could live with. Soraya's dragon losing his twin would...upset Soraya, and he found he didn't want that to happen.

Did he have a crush on her? He examined that feeling then set it aside, although he did glance briefly over at the feeding area.

Then back to the black pearl. Come on, girl...one of us has to be good enough.

What if a dragon died because he just...wasn't good enough?

--- K'etha --- - Soraya

It all went well. A green, safely Impressed. A second bronze...thankfully, they needed bronzes...Impressed to Vatoz.

The tiny green had also Impressed, but would she ever be large enough to fight? She seemed, next to the others, more like a firelizard than a dragon.

She was glad Lacoriath was healthy. Maybe not normal, with those headknobs, but she would be a fine fighting dragon and K'etha would make sure she was the best. Well, one of the best...

K'etha turned back to Soraya and laughed as the white pearl elected to take his first meal into his own hands. "I think you may have your hands full there, Soraya."

Like she didn't...

A’dan and Brown Fjallth
Tag Soraya and Liosliath

Well it was nice at least to know that everyone else was as uncomfortable as he was. Everything was so new, so wonderful. Feeling Fjallth’s presence in the back of his mind was almost intoxicating, though he had never gotten drunk enough to compare the feelings.

He sat there in companionable silence, watching the rest of the hatching as his dragon ate.

“We aren't like the older dragons.” Fjallth noted, still gulping down meat. “their heads are smaller. Not their heads though, their... Headknobs.” Aidan was impressed. His dragon, as young as he was, had a surprising vocabulary and astuteness. He had felt the dragon listening in to his thoughts, his feelings, the memories popping up. And the longer he was out here, the more words he seemed to learn from listening in to everyone's thoughts.

“Yes, we are different. I can hear everyone's worry. Everyone's fear. They are all practically screaming with it.” there was a sharp crunch as he bit through a bone. “They underestimate us. That is alright, we will prove them wrong.” the dragonet flicked his tail absently towards the pearl. “He was of great concern to them. Even his rider is nervous…”

Fjallth I don't think you should eavesdrop too much on her thoughts. If you can help it. Or at least don't tell me. Some of those things are secrets, things they don't want to tell others. For us, our thoughts are really the only sacred place left. Aidan told him gently, speaking only in his mind for his dragon to hear.

The dragonet paused, but nodded. “Very well.”

But the observation had turned A’dan’s attention back to the hatching. He shared everyone's worry for a few moments as he watched the tiny green. But she impressed, as did a bronze. Finally. But the black pearl was still out there.

Fjallth had finished, and was ambling over to Soraya and Liosliath. “Brother.” he addressed his pearl hatch sibling. “Has food given you strength? Perhaps your rider would be encouraged to see you lift your head to watch our other hatch mates and welcome them.”

It was a gesture of solidarity, of encouragement. Fjallth cared about them, and particularly about the worry and fear emanating from Soraya.

“I can share you load if need be. I am a bit thicker built, and a bit bigger.”

TAG Cyrene

Kar'kaa was so focused on the Hatching, he didn't answer Cyrene's comments right away. After several Impressions, he finally turned back to her. "I do apologize for not answering you, I was too focused on this eggciting Hatching!" He gave a smile, watching the unimpressed bronze intently.

For once, AIVAS seemed to remain silent, watching as the hatching neared the end of its middle phase. There were far less eggs to hatch now, and even less that seemed to be moving. As for candidates, they still stood, waiting, hoping, just as the riders, the dragons, even AIVAS itself, seemed to be doing.

With none but the brown who had come from The Soaring Gyrfalcon Egg and the black pearl left, it fell to one of those two to impress next. Although the brown had started to move toward the candidates, it was the black pearl who finally seemed to gain some courage. She picked a direction, the one with the most candidates in it, and began down the line with some apprehension, but at least she was moving. This didn't last long, for she stopped in her tracks, trembling slightly as The Greenland Shark Egg, which had shown no signs of life at all up until that point, suddenly burst. It was a real proper burst, with shards going every which way. What was left was a dying echo of the extremely loud sound the egg had produced and a strange mashup of limbs and several colors that were writhing and twisting. It was a terrifying moment, and a shocking sight, and the hesitation and astonishment of the black pearl was absolutely warranted. She retreated quickly, squeezing herself in between some of the remaining candidates and huddling behind them. The odd creature that seemed to have been the inhabitant of The Greenland Shark Egg had only been moving slowly, but now was twisting and turning increasingly and it soon became clear to the slight relaxation of all that the egg had contained twins. The blue managed to untangle itself first, and flopped over onto its back, wiggling its legs as it tried desperately to right itself. The bronze seemed to be far more graceful, and stood up to stretch, tilting his wide and oddly flattened head back, headknobs catching the light. The metallicism that everyone expected was sort of there, but very hard to see, and in places on his hide, it seemed to be gone completely. His headknobs were very long and very thin, extending up and back for quite a long way. They ended in sharp points and were ribbed ever so slightly, but they at least were in the correct place. The same could not be said for the blue's headknobs, which seemed to start on his forehead instead. That wasn't the only odd thing about the blue, who's body was the same size as his bronze brother's. The blue was not a big boy, but rather a huge boy, and it was clear why the egg had shattered so violently the very moment the two had begun to move.

The bronze paused before he began to really move and leaned his head back to scratch at a spot on his shoulder with his headknobs before he began to stalk forward, leaving his blue brother behind to try and get himself back on his feet with his wings pinned awkwardly under him. From behind the candidates, the black pearl made a strange sound and, surprisingly, pushed her way back through the candidates and headed toward the field of mostly hatched eggs, a determined look on her face, in so far as anyone could tell, and showing more backbone and spirit than she had previously, except for when she had assisted her own twin brother in his impression. The black pearl stuck her head into the air with a surprisingly haughty huff, turning her head so she could ignore her bronze brother as they passed each other. It was a very clear and obvious snub, although the bronze did pause to watch her pass and flicked his tail slightly, apparently annoyed that she hadn't paid him any attention before continuing on again. As he did so, he tripped over The Snowshoe Hare Egg, and there was a horrible crackling noise. The black pearl did pause again at that, but upon seeing what had happened, shuddered slightly and hurried on her way toward her blue brother. The bronze made an indignant shriek and scrabbled to push himself back to his feet, covered as he was in the goo of the other egg. It was... disgusting, and that was the only word for it. The inside of the egg smelled quite horrible, and the bronze quickly pushed sand on top of it, covering the remains of the dead hatchling inside. There was just enough time for people to see a pale hide and barely formed limbs, as well as the massive, dead eyes, of the hatchling inside before the bronze had buried the remains and flung himself into the sand away from the egg, rubbing back and forth to get the stench off of himself. The gold presiding would have to take that baby, who had never stood a chance, between to their final resting place. The color of the unformed dragonet inside would never be known. It's development had not progressed far enough for that to be apparent.

Once the bronze had cleaned himself in the sand sufficiently, and with another noise of half-sorrow on the part of his dead sibling and half-disgust on his own behalf, he started towards the candidates once again. The black pearl was busy with her blue brother as she knelt next to him, nosing him gently and then beginning to shove her nose under him to try and lever him into the correct position. She was smaller than he, so it took quite some effort on both of their parts, but it seemed to eventually be enough. With both of them, they managed it and the blue was finally the right side up. He gave a soft thankful croon at his sister, and tossed his head, although the gesture was less a dismissal of her and more an encouraging one. With one last worried glance at her larger blue brother, the black pearl scurried back towards the candidates, hurrying along at a slightly more worried pace now. She had been out of her egg for quite some time, and the need for her, and indeed for her brown brother, to impress was growing in direct proportion to their risk of going between. The brown didn't seem to be too worried, but he black pearl was a little frantic now, moving father than she had before. When she finally skidded to a halt, she had been going quite quickly and sprayed sand in front of her. She had stopped in front of the correct person apparently, and she quickly raised her head to make eye contact with Allana. She waited until the burst of rainbow in her eyes had started before she spoke. I... took nearly too long, and I am so sorry, Allana. But no one would have helped by brother, and the sand would have burned his back. I couldn't let that happen. But I made it. I made it in time, and I am Lioslyath. Not to be confused with my brother, Liosliath, because we are quite different. Allana, I am so happy to finally be here with you. Lioslyath staggered slightly and leaned against her rider, although she tried not to put too much weight on her despite her clearly fatigued state. Ah, I am quite famished now. I think... food would be nice. Very nice, actually, if you don't mind that is. I am sorry that I'm so needy, I promise this isn't how I normally am, but I feel quite faint.

As the cheer of impression to the black pearl Lioslyath and her rider went up, the bronze and blue were both approaching the candidates. The blue was not exactly ignoring his bronze brother, although he had ever reason to do so, but rather studying the candidates with an intensity that was quite ferocious, even if there was no malice in the look of the blue at all. The bronze was walking oddly, although not from any cut, but rather because he clearly still felt rather gross from the discovery that The Snowshoe Hare Egg had not made it to full maturity but rather died in its shell. The bronze had glanced at his blue brother, and then over at his brown brother, who was staring at the candidates intently as well, although making less moves forward than the blue was. Clearly not to be out done by his brother, the bronze started to stalk once again, moving close to the candidates and inspecting each one. He, luckily, had gotten most of the smell off of himself, and it was tolerable as he walked by. However, despite the bronze's determination, it was indeed his blue twin that moved forward toward one specific candidate first, raising his head ever so slightly, because his size made it so he was nearly on eye level with his neck raised anyway, and making eye contact with his new rider. There. I have found you. Patience and persistence have paid off. Please, do come with me. I would appreciate it greatly. You are to be my rider forevermore, and I, Ellemeshth, am your dragon forevermore. We must give thanks to my sister. She risked her life, although perhaps it does not seem so to you, to help me, and for that we both owe Lioslyath a great debt. The blue bowed low to his rider, and then moved forward to lean into him gently, nuzzling against him with a quiet reserve that was so rarely seen in blue dragons. Like his twin, the bronze also seemed to have found his rider, although his reaction was far more exuberant, giving a cry and rushing toward the candidate only to stop mere inches away from his face, eye contact unavoidable as rainbows danced between them. Aha! You are here! You were playing tricks on me, Masarrath, then, weren't you? How fun, that, how clever. But it's not time for that now. It's time to feed me, and bathe me, and then sleep, I think. In that order. I am sleepy, but not as sleepy as I am smelly, and not so smelly as I am completely famished, so we're going to take care of all of that in order.

.../Character Rank///: Black Pearl (F)

.../Character Codes///: 656565, 0d152e, 1d2e63, 000c12, 6bcdff, c8ecff
.../Character Appearance///: Lioslyath's body is not black, but instead a grey that is ever so slightly on the darker side. This color is matte and appears everywhere except her wings, a tiny bit on her sides, and ever so slightly on her back. There is no variation to this grey on her body where it appears, and it will absorb light well. On Lioslyath's wings is where her rank as a Black Pearl really starts to show. All of her wings, front and back, are covered in different shades of blue that blend together easily. Most of these blues are darker blues, some of which have purplish tints and some of which have greenish tints, but all of which are faded slightly into the grey spectrum. These blues still all work well together and none have sharp edges to them at all. Laid overtop of this gently shifting background of blues, some lighter and some darker than others, are sharp shapes. These shapes appear to be black, but that is not the case. They are a very deep turquoise that is so deep that except in harsh light, they will appear black to most, if not all, people. Strung between these very nearly black branches, as they so look on her hide, are barely visible markings. Glittering with what look like ice crystals up close, the very faint, nearly transparent markings look like sparkling lines, woven together by an ethereal hand to resemble spider webs. There are three on the underside of Lioslyath's left wing, and just a single one on the underside of her right wing. These markings are very difficult to see, and one must be right up close to even notice the webs, let alone the details of these markings. The ice crystals that show on the webs on her wings also appear dotted along the branches, giving them and odd and slightly glowing appearance. Most of Lioslyath's hide is perfectly matte, even the ice crystals that have formed on the branches on her wings, and all of the background certainly have no shine to them. What does are little points on the webs on Lioslyath's hide. They are barely noticeable but if they catch the light in the right way, they are brilliant lines with sharp points of light that can't help but dazzle anyone who is looking at them. They are small though and rarely are seen in such a splendid way.

Lioslyath has a slightly odd appearance. Her neck and tail are shortened and thickened just a little bit, although not by too much to make it noticeable on its own. The middle of her body is quite elongated though, and this makes her neck and tail look far shorter than they actually are. Her head is flat and widened into a very triangular shape. Her headknobs are quite strange. They are in the correct spot on her head, but they seem to be flattened on the side that faces the other headknob at the base, and then oddly, they seem to twist around themselves, creating two relatively short spirals that extend straight back. The outside of her headknobs, ,the unflattened portion are not unaffected, and they have bumps or more like ridges running across them. Despite these strange oddities, her headknobs are rather small. This may have something to do with her odd voice, but she still seems to manage just fine. They don't throw her balance off, and she can hear just fine, although they do add to her over all strange appearance. Her eyes are large and wide with thin eyeridges above them. Her shoulders and hips are wide set too, and this does help support her odd length in the middle of her body. She will develop extra strong muscle around her core to help support that length, although when she's hatched, she will have some trouble moving for long periods of time. Although her shoulders and hips are wide set, her legs are short. Her back legs will have trouble launching her into the air for quite some time, as they are as long as her front legs. Luckily, her front legs aren't too much shorter than average. When she is fully grown, she will have enough muscle to take off with only minor difficulty with a rider on her back, but it will take all that time and more for her to be able to launch unencumbered in some way.  Because of her weird body shape, she ends up being on the longer end of Black Pearls, at 32 feet. That being said, her wings are large and very impressive, and once in the air she will be quite an excellent flyer who has a natural grasp of her abilities and talent for finding air currents. She will feel most comfortable in the air, and because of her weird shape, there will be some acrobatics that she alone will be able to fully achieve and master. Although her tail is a little bit short, it isn't thick. She will be a chubby baby, adding again to that strange appearance she has, but that will transform mostly into muscle when she is older, although she will never completely lose the baby-fat.

.../Character Personality///: It will take many turns of Lioslyath to emerge fully and become the dragon that she was always meant to be. Eventually she will be confident and proud of herself, knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. Until then, she is a meek creature, uncertain of her rather considerable abilities and far more willing to let others take the spotlight. While she will never be one to actively seek out other's attention, she will overcome the desire to stay anonymous eventually. When she is young, she will need a lot of emotional and mental support. She is not someone to trust herself with anything, even though her instincts are often correct. She will constantly second guess everything she does, and it will be a rare and triumphant moment when she doesn't. She has a sweet demeanor, and would never intentionally hurt someone, although she will constantly worry that she has done so. When she isn't worrying, she will have a brightness to her that makes her incredibly attractive. She is a pure creature, innocent at her hatching although that will not last long. The lack of innocence does not taint Lioslyath's purity, but rather serves to highlight her incredibly selfless qualities. She has a natural curiosity, but her tendency to second guess herself will mean that she will not be able to explore to the fullness of what she wishes. Although she will always try and appear happy and helpful, there will be deep worry and sadness in her. As she gets older, the worry will dwindle, but the sadness will not. She will always be a hard worker, but she knows she will only be able to do so much. She doesn't have a mothering streak, but more like an aunt streak. That cool, fun-loving aunt who pushes you to do your best and cheers you on with the utmost sincerity every step of the way. She is incredibly earnest and sincere. Her words always ring true, and the very notion of lying repulses her completely. She will be a wonderful person to tell secrets to, because they will never be told, but asking her to lie will always fall through because she just will not have that ability in her. She doesn't like total solitude and will seek out people if she finds herself alone completely. It doesn't need to be a lot of people, just a few will make her feel right at home, although she will also be alright in large groups of people as well. Lots of people won't bother her at all.

.../Character Mindvoice///: Sweet and incredibly quiet, Lioslyath's voice is quite difficult to hear. Generally, most people think that her words turn up inside their head without an actual sound to them. They aren't so much hears as a memory of them being said occurs in the minds of those she is talking to. There is a sound to her voice, no matter how faint it might be, and that sound in the quiet noise of ice slowly consuming the life around it. It's a very gentle noise, soft on the mind and so very slow and light that only a strange sensation of noise can be heard. Mostly it is still just the memory of the sensation of noise. This makes conversations with Lioslyath very strange, because there are small pauses every time someone wants to respond, as they try and remember what she just said. The more a person converses with Lioslyath, the easier this process will be until, for those that converse with her daily, it will become second nature and those awkward pauses will disappear completely and the conversations will become smooth and easy. There will be the added bonus that her words will remain very clear in people's minds and they will be able to accurate replicate her words for quite some time after speaking with her, which is another reason that Lioslyath will despise lying, because she knows that someone will catch her in this endeavor. Even sounds like laughter and crying show up in people's minds as a memory of those events occuring. People will remember that Lioslyath laughed, for example, but not actually be able to tell you that they experienced her laughing, just that they have a memory of her laughing. That is how all her words and mental actions, as well as emotions, show up for people.

APC Blue Ellemeshth of ????

.../Character Name///: Ellemeshth
.../Name Meaning///: Snow King
.../Character Age///: 0
.../Character Birth Turn///: 3361
.../Character Birth Season///: Winter

.../Character Picture///: user posted image

.../Character Rank///: Blue

.../Character Codes///: 030814, 002d43, 04394d, 134c68, 1b5d7e, 2e80af, 60a5d2, 7bc5e1, aee0f3, ceeefa, f4fcff
.../Character Appearance///: Ellemeshth is a striking dragon to behold. Most of his hide is a very deep blue-black color. The only reason he isn't marked as a melanistic dragon is because of the very light markings on his hide that clearly contrast this notion. He's just an exceptionally dark blue, or at least most of him is. In most lighting, he really does appear nearly black, or indeed fully black, and if it wasn't for the case of other blues being documented to show such a distinct deepness and richness to their color, then Ellemeshth might be considered even more strange than he already was. There is something strange about his hide. If viewed in bright light, and someone takes the time to view Ellemeshth from an angle, there does appear to be a shift throughout the deep blue-black that covers most of his hide. It's possible to see that actually the color isn't just blue-black, but rather blue-green-black, although distinctly more blue than green, and of course far more black than blue. It's possible to see this because Ellemeshth's hide looks like it has different layers of color to it, stacking up on one another to the point where it's just ever so shy of black. This is only possible to view in the bright light and when viewing his hide from a very sharp angle. All over his hide, criss-crossed at odd angles, are the markings to his hide. These markings are bright, very nearly white, and are very straight and thin lines. These lines cross over each other, although none seem to have a start or end on his hide. They continue all over, and while they do change direction on his hide, it's always with a very sharp angle and no curves. Surrounding these nearly-white lines, the layers that seem to make up Ellemeshth's hide are far more visible. The lines are not touched by the near-black at all, and instead have fuzzy barriers to them made up of many different colors. Each color is a shade of blue or teal, and these colors get deeper in some places, and lighter in others, showing the different layers at different opacities in different places all over his hide, but only where the near-white lines appear. These colors fade together in between the lines to show the deep dark near black that covers mot of his hide.

Ellemeshth is a monstrously sized blue. Utterly massive, there's no getting around the fact that Ellemeshth will, one day, end up in the size range of bronzes. Not a large bronze, mind, but still a bronze. He will be forty nine feet when he is all done growing, and he will have the bulk to match it too. He doesn't have a lot of extra on him, but that doesn't mean he isn't bound in extraordinarily strong and wiry muscle. There's just a bit of fat to him, but not much. It will be tricky for him to get rid of, however, and will mostly remain around his hips and legs, so eventually it's more than likely that he'll just give up on that as a lost cause and turn his attention to matters that require more of his attention. Ellemeshth's neck and tail are just a little bit short. Not super short mind, but just enough to give him a stocky sort of look. This look is mirrored by his large legs and incredibly size, which will off-set the wiry nature of his musculature. His wings, too, are quite large enough to give him stamina beyond what people might expect of him. He will outperform quite a few browns in stamina, and will be able to sustain time in the air that astonishes most people, if only because that is not the nature of his color. His strong musculature and determined nature mean that Ellemeshth will be a dragon who trains himself, and although his muscles won't appear big, giving him an oddly weighted appearance that tends towards his rear, he will be more than fighting fit at any time. He has wide-set eyes and a very heavy looking set of eyeridges that give him a brooding and pensive appearance that fit quite well with his personality. He also sports a quite interesting set of headknobs. They are not, it appears at least, set quite where headknobs are supposed to be. They are more on the top of his forehead, rather than to the sides, and actually look, from the front, like a well oiled image of a mustache. They are very thick and heavy in the middle, and swoop to either side instead of back. They dip in the middle where they are slightly thinner, and then turn upwards again into a sharp point on either side of his head. They give his head a heavy look to it, and add to the brooding appearance that his rather wide face has. Still, they are interesting, as they both start right next to each other so that they are touching in the middle and then spread out to either side. These headknobs do retain their cylindrical shape at least, although given they narrow to points, it's more like their conical shape.

.../Character Personality///:A solid and unrufflable fellow, Ellemeshth isn't one to deal with the frivolity of his fellow dragons. He can be quite a serious and dower individual and very strict when it comes to things like work and play. He keeps those two separate, and can be very intent on his work. He isn't the most intelligent blue, but neither is he stupid, and Ellemeshth is a dragon who, perhaps, is all the more intelligent because he spends time analyzing his faults and weaknesses and trying to compensate for them. He does have an empathic side, the side that most blues possess, and Ellemeshth actually has quite a bit of difficulty reconciling his normal personality, one of logic and strategy, with the emotional side of things. That's one of the weaknesses he possesses, and he doesn't shy away from the emotion-ladened part of his life, but he certainly doesn't always understand how to deal with other people's emotions. He, in his steadfast way, will try his best to comfort people, and he will make an exceptional search dragon because he is such a stickler for things like little details. He won't necessarily bring in the most candidates when he goes out on searches, because he much prefers the perfect to the expansive. When he is older, this strategy will prove itself rather well to him, as a good percentage of the candidates he searches will go on to be riders. Ellemeshth doesn't usually allow himself to feel pride in things. He has some strange notions about pride and how they can be horribly disruptive to people. He isn't necessarily the most fun and bubbly dragon to be around, and his preference for statistics rather than jokes don't always make him the most popular, but he isn't a bad fellow, and he certainly will never enjoy seeing someone hurt. Actually, his boring speeches can come in handy when someone needs to be put to sleep, and he's grateful he has some sort of use. That contrast between pride and being grateful is actually the big thing in Ellemeshth. He is grateful for an opportunity to help those around him, and he feels a great sense of loyalty and love towards them, but his mind flows better in the world of logic, and he will forever be struggling to reconcile those two in the perfect way for himself.

.../Character Mindvoice///: Ellemeshth's voice is not quite comforting. In fact, it's rather disconcerting. It's the strange crackling sound of ice giving way under something heavy. It's the creak and groan of distressed ice under pressure as it's straining to maintain its shape and solidity. It's a voice that is just on the verge of cracking and breaking, of a great rush of sound that just, somehow, never manages to come. A lot of people won't like listening to Ellemeshth because his voice is full of natural suspense. Some people will very much enjoy his voice, however, because it does have those natural sounds to it. His mindvoice also doesn't leave it just at that. When Ellemeshth's talking, his voice does cause some visual manipulation to those who are listening to it. Here, at least, his voice isn't quite so bad. Whatever Ellemeshth's says, appears in the vision, at least vaguely, of the person listening. It looks odd to those experiencing it, like a weird overlay that shouldn't be there. The things that Ellemeshth's voice conjure are shimmery and ethereal, and possess no sense of perspective to them. They are flattened, and often oddly simplistic in their appearance, as if they had been drawn by a child. They don't linger too long after Ellemeshth stops talking, about ten seconds more or less, and they won't appear again until Ellemeshth begins to talk again. His voice does conjure these images immediately upon his voice breaking into someone's mind, and they create a sort of play as he talks. Little figures move awkwardly in front of people's vision and things happen as Ellemeshth describes them. This being said, these images do overlay the real world, and it can be very tricky to navigate around them. Ellemeshth and his rider, and possibly his wing, will have to work out a way to communicate between them all during thread so that Ellemeshth's voice will not disturb people and cause distraction. After all, he has no control over the sensory manipulation aspect of his voice at all, and the images will appear even if he doesn't want them to.

APC Bronze Masarrath of ????

.../Character Name///: Masarrath
.../Name Meaning///: Happiness
.../Character Age///: 0
.../Character Birth Turn///: 3361
.../Character Birth Season///: Winter

.../Character Picture///: user posted image

.../Character Rank///: Bronze

.../Character Codes///: a59c8b, 62563f, 443f35, 352f23, 6b5324
.../Character Appearance///: Masarrath's color is a bit unusual. That "bronzy" color that is usually attributed to his rank is missing for the most part on his hide's color. For one thing, his hide doesn't have the tell-tale shimmer to it. There is a dull shimmer, like very dull metal, over some parts of it, but in other parts, it seems to be gone completely. The parts where it is gone completely, or very nearly completely, are the parts of his hide that have more of the bronze color to it, so in that way, his hide has a slight paradox to it. The parts of his hide that have the dull sheen to it are also very dark. He is a mellanistic dragon, and although his hide isn't completely black, it does have enough grey to it to be absolutely sure that he carries that particular mutation. Even the "light" markings on his hide aren't that light. Masarrath carries large bronze blotches on his hide. These markings are colored in with many different colors to them, some a little bit lighter and some a little bit darker, and indeed, in a few places, some quite a bit darker. All in all, with all the coloring on these bronze blotches, they appear to look sort of like rounded, if irregularly shaped, stones. These are the markings on Masarrath's hide that have the most minimal amount of sheen to them. The shapes are set far apart on Masarrath's hide and don't come near each other, although the distance apart that each one is from the others is not equal between them. This shape might be closer to that shape and then farther away from another shape. Their spacing appears quite random, actually, and they show up all over Masarrath's hide, and they are quite large shapes. Then, around each one of these markings, irregular rings appear. These rings are the lightest markings on Masarrath's hide, and they expand outward from each one of these shapes. The lines do not cross or intersect, although in a few places they get quite close to touching. The lines, when they would intersect each other, just double back on themselves. Right up against these lines, facing inward toward the rock shapes that the lines are centered around, are softly jagged markings that extend inward in different and random patterns. These markings actually give a sense of depth to Masarrath's hide because they appear to be slightly below the lightest color. The color of these markings is ever so slightly more bronze than the lightest markings on Masarrath's hide, and all together, his markings give his hide a very busy, but also incredibly modern and graphic sort of look to it.

Masarrath will always be a big boy. He's not the largest bronze when he hatches, but he will quickly outstrip all others in his clutch and will end up at fifty three feet when he's all grown. He isn't the largest dragon in length, but he is still quite a big boy and will certainly have a decent amount of muscle all over his body. He doesn't have double muscling, but it's just barely that way. Masarrath is quite the buff boy, and will be quite proud of how he looks, because he certainly does look quite impressive. His head is oddly flattened, and he has quite a long jaw on him with some scraggly teeth showing, just one or two on each side. His head is smooth however and quite large, held up by a thick and powerful neck that doesn't sacrifice any sort of length. None of Masarrath's body is a compromise, actually. He's got very powerful legs and they are of typical length and proportion for his body length, with wide flat feet. His chest is deep, and covered in thick cords of muscle. These add to his wings which are wide as well as long. He won't be the most agile in the air, it is true, but his stamina will be nearly unparalleled. He is a powerful dragon, and quite a strong flyer. He will be good for rescue missions, being able to carry a significant amount of weight on his back without straining at all. Masarrath's tail will be incredibly powerful and thick, a beautiful addition to his body. His headknobs are the most interesting thing about his appearance apart from his flat head. They are very long and thin, extending back away from his head in long straight lines. There is an ever so slight curve to them, but not by a lot in the slightest. It's more toward the end, although really Masarrath's headknobs, although far extended from what they should be, are rather straight. They are also incredibly thin. They're thin when they emerge from his head, and they only become thinner as they extend backwards into very neat points that look quite sharp. As he gets older, they will get less sharp, but will always be quite pointy. They are long enough that if he tilts his head back to a natural angle, he can scratch himself with them all across his shoulders and up parts of his wings as well. There are also small ribs on each one of his headknobs that extend all the way up to the very end of them. These ribs are small and slim, and each one is set just a little way away from the other ones. Masarrath's headknobs do appear to be located, at least at their base, in the correct spot on his head.

.../Character Personality///: Masarrath is a common bronze in some respects. He's haughty, disdainful, and can be horribly reckless when it comes to his own safety and that of his rider. This isn't because he has a dislike for his rider, but rather because Masarrath doesn't think of consequences. He's a stubborn creature, and getting anything into his head that he doesn't want there will be a chore best left to the professionals, like a very patient gold dragon. Masarrath isn't a bad dragon, and will be incredibly loyal to his Weyr. He has a massive sense of pride, and he will do his best to be a source of pride for the place that he calls home. Of course, being a daredevil comes with its own risks, and Masarrath will never enjoy being told off. He can be a very pushy bronze, always wanting to be right and get his own way. He will be above whining and wheedling, but he will not be above pouting horrible, although he certainly won't admit to the pouting. He can be a large baby sometimes, and that can cause trouble. Masarrath can be a joy to be around, though. He can tell the most amazing stories, and since he will love to be the center of attention, his stories will enthrall and captivate people. He's a natural at them, at building up the climax and astonishing reveals. He is a witty sort, and quite intelligent, and so Masarrath's particular talent will come in handy. It also helps that he, as a source of pride, will not lie, and so all the stories he tells of his and his rider's exploits will be true. Despite all his faults, Masarrath can be a charmer, and will love to woo the ladies. He can, at times, be serious, and it's a little unnerving when he is. Usually he's such a character, the life of the party and a huge personality that overwhelms people with delight that the shift to intense and morose is not what anyone expects. People think of Masarrath, for the most part, as a sort of "party dragon". He's out to have a good time, and have a good time he does, but he can be serious. That serious part of him just isn't shown a lot, and it's very strange when it comes out.

.../Character Mindvoice///: Masarrath's voice is highly distinctive. It sounds like two stones grinding together. It's not the high pitched sound that would curdle milk, but rather the deep, slow, agonizing grind of eons moving mountains. His voice isn't slow, though. It's as if you took that sound and sped it up quite a bit. He doesn't talk fast, so that isn't it. He talks normally, but rather the sound of his voice is sped up to his speech, and given that it is a sound that should take longer than humans live to be heard, it's rather disconcerting, if only for a little bit. After a time, the sound of Masarrath's voice is not too difficult to listen to. It is deep, and rather rumbly, and holds a lush quality to it. The sound of stones grinding each other into nothing is the only sound that his voice produces, but he doesn't need other qualities to his voice to make an impression. The sound of the stones contains many different layers. A deeper note there, a higher sound here that isn't difficult to listen to, and if isolated perhaps would hold a very strange clarity to it. These are the different layers of Masarrath's voice that all weave together with each other to create a symphony of exactly one sound. Anyone who sits and listens to Masarrath's voice, not what he's saying because that will probably be rather callous and not exactly tactful, but just the sound of his voice, will slowly begin to be able to pick out these different elements until, one by one, they become clear to the listener and his voice becomes all-consuming in the very best way possible.

.../Individual Mutations///: Melanism - Minor (Homozygous Recessive)
.../Inheritable Mutations///: Elongated Headknobs - Medium (Homozygous Dominant), Chromaticism - Minor (Heterozygous Dominant), Twinned Limbs - Medium (Heterozygous Recessive)

"Oh, that is sad." The voice of AIVAS was quiet and contemplative as it watched the gold dragon Mallitorioth, devoid of her rider who had slid to the sands, pick her way across the sands gently, so as not to disturb any remaining eggs, and scoop up the buried remains of The Snowshoe Hare Egg and its occupant with one mighty paw. With a sad cry, the gold flicked between, and AIVAS watched the Weyrwoman bow her head slightly. The gold emerged from between once again with a crack, the frosty air of between swirling off of her before it was consumed by the all-penetrating heat of the sands, and Mallitorioth moved back toward her rider, who pressed her head against her dragon's massive one as the new riders were congratulated.

V'nin of Brown Evonoth

Tag: All applicable

V'nin watched to blue impress to Ottillya, a soft smile on his face. "Alright, let'sget her on the board and secured to move" . At the same time, he mentally called Evonoth to make his way over toward the group. He had to glance over in the dragon's direction when he didn't get a response, only the feeling of delight. He saw the reason plain as day. Evon had leaned his head toward the Impression table, happily humming at the sight of Soraya and her own bond, one of the pearls. The rider couldn't help but smile. There will be time enough later, Bond of Mine, but I need your help Now.

Evonoth turned and quickly crossed between the stands and the remaining candidates, squeezing past easy in spite of how bulky he seemed. V'nin scrambled up the Brown's arm and shoulder, even as the dragon lay his head flat onto the sands. The rider scooted along his bond's neck and carefully climbed onto the massive head, signaling the other healers to lift the injured Weyrling onto Evon snout, guiding the board until it was snugly atop. Carefully, head held extremely level, the dragon rose and turned in place, returning his head to just above the fllor. He turned his head slightly to look toward the freshly impressed. Come little brother. Let us see to your bond and get you fed. The brown walked toward the Entrance, pausing every couple steps to allow the dragonet to catch up, eventually leaving the Hatching Gounds and onto the Lift.

So it was that none saw the tragic sight of a stillborn dragon

--- Tobas ---

That brown was still not Impressed. He had to choose soon.

Or his Candidate wasn't there.

Then another egg burst, but what came out of it was a tangle with two many limbs and wings. The black pearl fled to hide behind Candidates.

Tobas didn't blame her - what was that hideously deformed...

...oh. Duh.

...it was two dragons in the egg. Thank goodness. They'd just Hatched all tangled and looked like a hideous monster for a mess. A blue and a bronze, as they got themselves separated. The bronze was oddly marked and the blue was the same size as the bronze, not smaller as one might expect. Had he stolen the tiny green's size somehow?

Tobas actually laughed slightly at the thought of dragons stealing each other's traits when they Hatched. Had they come out of the same egg, he might have entertained it as...a serious proposition, the larger twin taking all the food in the egg and leaving the smaller stunted.

The blue appeared to be...stuck on his back. Tobas frowned, took half a step forward...no, don't touch an unImpressed hatchling. Meanwhile, the bronze was heading towards the candidates - the brown had also moved, but more slowly, maybe he was just lazy? - and stepped on another egg.

Tobas winced...and then he got a glimpse of what was in the egg. His stomach churned.

Ugh.

A dud, which would have been fine, if it hadn't been cracked open. Obviously the unborn wasn't viable, hadn't developed, and...ugh.

No.

He would not, not, not throw up. From behind him came distinctive sounds as one of the girls did just that.

He didn't blame her, but he managed, with an effort, not to join her. Barely. He tasted bile.

Death was one thing. But that was...gross... The bronze seemed to agree, although the noise he made had sorrow in it too.

He was, in fact, trying to get the goo off himself, and then heading for the Candidates.

The blue was going to be fine, it seemed...the black pearl, perhaps out of some not yet developed maternal instinct, was helping him right himself. Once she had him righted, she set off at a trot...to Allana.

Okay, another one down. The blue and bronze also Impressed, leaving the brown there.

And the gold already moving to take the broken egg, the deformed undeveloped body Between. Tobas got too much of a good look at it, but he swallowed what threatened to come out. Even AIVAS seemed...saddened...by the loss.

And the brown. "Shard it," Tobas said, finally. "We've had enough death...just Impress? Please?" It wasn't quite an outburst - his tone was too quiet for that. He wasn't somebody to draw attention to himself, after all.

Then he barely whispered, "There has to be somebody good enough for you...and if not there's always me."

He swallowed. He still didn't...but the dead baby weighed on him. How much worse would losing a healthy hatchling be?

And what if being there wasn't enough. What if he had to...stop being a stubborn fool and accept why he was here.

He swallowed again, watching the unImpressed brown and bronze. The two remaining eggs, one of which was moving.

The Hatching was almost over, but he was no longer sure he wanted to escape unscathed.

No.

He just didn't want to escape unscathed if the price was an innocent life.

--- K'etha ---

"Ugh. It's a..."

It's not a horrible monster, dearest. It's just my brothers.

Obviously the dragon had sensed right away what wasn't immediately apparent - the many-limbed monster was just a set of horribly entangled twins.

"They look like they could use a hand."

Or a talon. But I think my sister has it in hand.

The two were disentangled, but the blue was still stuck - with the black pearl moving to help him.

"Talking of your brothers, I really hope that brown is going to Impress."

And then the bronze stepped on...and...

Lacoriath produced a small miserable sound that was almost a keen and snaked her head into her rider's tummy. Almost a keen because the young one had never lived.

Wasn't even a dragon.

Maybe...K'etha swallowed...that was what was in all dud eggs and it was just ill luck this one had been cracked open.

She hugged her dragon gently, not even realizing the black pearl and the twins had all Impressed.

Kiraya Jakos of White Pearl Eusabvieth
Exit

The white pearl rider and her dragon stared in awe a numerous other dragons emerged from their egg shells. Some had such deformed characteristics that all Kiraya could do was wince at their pitiable appearances. No, she wasn't disgusted. In fact, she was mesmerized. The dragons all have such unique colorings and markings in their hide. They were beautiful dragons, and she knew that, just like those dragons from Eusabvieth's clutch. The candidates are sure to have a good time with their newly found dragons. She smiled at the thought; the dragons should be happy to have found their riders.

Then the eggs have finally been reduced. Only a few of those unhatched had remained. Kiraya and Eusabvieth watched in curiosity as the last of the eggs hatched. Some even stored two dragons at once! Kiraya found that quite... unsanitary, to say the least. As the dragons hatched and they found new owners, she watched the unhatched ones. There were only three of them left... it would've been five if it hadn't for the two other eggs to hatch a bronze and a brown. Kiraya smiled. She wondered how this day was going to end... it would end well, right?

...Wrong.

It was the death of the dragonet in the Snowshoe Hare Egg that had hit a toll in her heart. She was right all along; one of the dragons would go and spend their life in between. As the gold dragon Mallitorioth sends the dead dragonet into between, Kiraya stands up, her expression darkening. She looks over to Eusabvieth, who was staring at the hatching with wide eyes. He never thought one of the last eggs would be dead. Eusabvieth has experienced some of the deaths of his siblings, sure, but here in this clutch he never knew only one dragon wouldn't get out alive.

Just one more egg. One more egg.

"Eusabvieth." She calls the pearl dragon, who turns to her with a worried look on his face. Before he could even ask a question, she continued. "We are needed elsewhere. Let's go."

The pearl dragon blinks, but he obeys and rises up from his spot. Sparing one last look at the remaining unhatched egg, he sighed and shook his head. Turning to Kiraya and noticing what looked like a disturbed look in her face, he closes his eyes and spreads his wings, then soars into the air and flies away from the hatching room.

What bothered you so greatly as to have me to leave the hatching room, Kiraya? the pearl dragon asks his rider, who still stares with blank eyes.

...Betweening, Eusabvieth.

...Huh?

One of the dragons died and was placed in between. If the same thing happened to you, I wouldn't know what to do.

Eijo'vikos of Blue Daegnyth
Tag: Yahtooandaleeth, Vatoz of Bronze Wapitieth, open

The blue dragon looks on with interest. So far, so good. The dragonets are slowly hatching from their eggs, and have found their riders for the future. Very good. This should work. Daegnyth watches as a few of the eggs still stand there, ready to hatch. A few minutes pass and he sees the eggs finally breaking, and out come the dragons. Some even stored two dragons in them! Well, that's... insane and sanitary, I guess? At the same time?

Suddenly, a familiar blue's voice echoes out of the blue. The dragon Yahtoaandaleeth greets him and flies next to him with his rider. A small smile forms across his face. Good thing someone thought to talk to him while his master is still gone and treating to wounds. Hello, there, Yahtoandaleeth. And to your rider, too, Cyrene. He greets the older blue dragon, then turns back to his rider. I would love to come and watch the hatching with you, of course, but I must wait for my rider to give me instructions. He might need me somehow.

Eijo'vikos, meanwhile, is still tending to the wounds of the other candidates, but there weren't any more that needs to be healed. The dragonets have moved into a fewer in numbers, too. Most of them have finally come out of their shells and got to be with their riders, while the five remaining eggs are still unhatched. Oh, no wait... two of them did finally hatch. A bronze and a brown, he must say. The healer waks up to a nearby bench and seats himself onto it. Calling Daegnyth now would be a good idea. Dae, you can come here now. He says to the dragon. For a moment there was silence, but then he heard the sound of the blue's wings spreading and finally the blue diving to the ground to meet him.

Daegnyth had said goodbye to Yahtoandaleeth before reaching out to his rider. A questioning look spreads across his face. Finally, you call for me and ask me to be with you while I am in the midst of conversation between Yahtoandaleeth. The healer chuckles and hugs the small blue's neck in response. Nice call, master.

Haha, sorry. I just needed your company, is all. Eijo'vikos said to the dragon, who simply hums and sits next to his rider, a head rested on the healer's lap. Both watched the hatching go on. The healer smiles once he has found that Vatoz has finally impressed a dragon. A bronze one, even! Amazing! Eijo'vikos grins and nods at the other healer. "A bronze dragon, Vatoz. Simply amazing. Congratulations on finally impressing, Vatoz."

Daegnyth kept silent, however, and simply watched the newly-born bronze dragon with a smile. Bronzes are quite arrogant, he knew that. He didn't like them just as much. But he didn't want to ruin the fun here, either. All he could do was nod in approval and watch the last remaining eggs in the hatching room, waiting for them to break out of their shell and find their rider, then see the world.

Lailie of Green Gaivath
Tag: Ariaceli, Mallitorioth, open

Any damages so far?

None yet as far as I know, Lailie.

Have all dragons impressed? And are some still unhatched?

All dragons have impressed, Lailie. And there is only three left to hatch. The rest have finally been birthed to the world.

The dragonrider and green dragon are still high up from the hatching room, watching things unfold. Lailie's green eyes scanned the room intently, waiting for anything more in the hatching that should happen. The eggs have finally hatched and not a single damage was done, according to Gaivath. She sighs and curses under her own breath. What was to worry about? The dragons are fine, and the candidates will find their own dragons. None of them would be left out. And secondly, why was she so upset about the dragons suddenly dying? None of them have still gone to between, right?

She was so caught up in her own thoughts that she didn't hear what AIVAS said next. She had heard a syllable but couldn't comprehend whatever the machine was talking about. She turned her head to face the screen, squinting her eyes to see if the text she was reading was correct. She didn't want to miss out on all the hatching fun, and besides, she needed to know what the status of the dragonets are--

13. Snowshoe Hare Egg - DEAD IN SHELL

...No.

One of them, Lailie... one of them has lost. She heard the sad voice of her dragon say, and it all gave it away. Heard AIVAS the first time, Gaivath. No need to tell me twice. She said. She closes her eyes in remorse. That dragon would have been a perfect one to be impressed. Both Gaivath and Lailie watch as Ariaceli's gold Mallitorioth sends the dead shell in between. The green hangs her head. That indeed is sad, Lailie. It would have been a good dragon.

Indeed, Gaivath. She commented, before turning to Ariaceli from below them. Now, try to ask Ariaceli what is going on down there. There is still a last egg in the hatching room. Surely it will survive.

The green dragon hesitates, but obeys anyway. She closes her eyes and tries to get Ariaceli's signal. Once she gets just a little, she takes a deep breath and begins to relay the message to her rider's younger sister.

Ariaceli, is there anything more to be said about the hatching?

Watching this hatching was proving to be quite… interesting. Each egg produced a new and wondrous creature, though a he could tell from the unease that this was not an ordinary hatching. Indeed, these dragons did not really look like the adult dragons. But so far, despite some struggle, they had been hatching at a steady rate.

The brown from the Gyrfalcon egg, and the black pearl remained on the sands longer than normal. It was odd for sure. Would these be the first to not impress?

As she pondered the possibility, another egg burst open, literally shattering. At first she didn't understand in the mess of what was left from the egg what was going on. Eventually she made out two separate dragons who had been squished in together. The bronze, good another bronze they needed that, strode away. Unfortunately, as big and graceful as he tried to be, he was anything but. He stepped on an egg, squishing it and revealing the first casualty of the day. Allana winced, and covered her nose at the smell, but otherwise did not react. While she was sad, she had prepared for this, and seeing how many dragons had impressed, she was willing to focus on them instead of the death of a single one.

Her attention now turned to the Black Pearl, who was searching, searching. She had been out there a while, she was pushing it. Allana urged her to find someone. There were plenty of candidates left.

But the pearl saw her blue brothers plight, on his back and struggling to rise. She had to go and help. Allana smiled at the way she looked at her bronze brother, as if she had no fear of the bigger hatchling. A brave and caring little thing. She helped her blue brother up and then turned back to the candidates. The pearl was quick now, frantic, and sped towards them. Towards Allana. She skidded to a halt, and Allana shielded her face from bits of sand. When she lowered her hands she lost herself in the eyes of her dragon, the rainbow of impression remaining in a flashing afterimage. Her little dragon spoke, almost swaying on her feet.

I.. took nearly too long, and I am so sorry, Allana.

Allana's usually practical and stoic heart warmed at small gray and blue dragon’s words. Such a sweet innocent thing. A desire to care for and protect Lioslyath suddenly filled her. She may have had to give up Aidan in a way to his dragon, but now she had hers, she had her own dragon to love and cherish. She reached down, cupping her hand around the little dragons jaw, with a small sweet smile. This dragon was a gift. Maybe not what she had wanted or expected, but that may be for the best.

“Of course, come on darling, we’ll get you some nice meat.” She helped her little dragon up and across the sands to the ever growing group of riders and dragonets. Supporting Lioslyath as she had supported her siblings.

Some of the other riders were mingling, chatting, but Allana slipped between them, acknowledging any congratulations with a distracted nod. She was focused now son getting her lovely pearl some food.

Lioslyath hummed almost inaudibly in her head at seeing Fjallth and Liosliath, but stayed with her rider. Soon Allana had procured food and found them a spot near her own brother. She fished several pieces of meat from the bucket and fed them one by one to her dragon, studying her as she ate. The pearl’s hide was beautiful, unlike any of the dragons Allana had seen. It was different even than the other black pearl’s, being more greyish with more subdued and less bright. Lioslyath’s colors would be of great help if there were ever a need for stealth and hiding during a night flight.

Allana saw Aidan, A’dan looking at her, a silly grin on his face. “So… you gonna abbreviate your name?”

Good question. “No, I don’t think so. If need be I can give them an abbreviation to use during a flight but… i cant think of any under the typical way which I like. A’na sounds weird and A’lan is barely any different. I guess Ill ask Ariacelli and see what she says.”

A’dan nodded. Lioslyath took that opportunity to speak.”Well I like her name, and Im her dragon. Its my opinion that matters I think.” But as confident as she sounded to A’dan she was less so when she whispered to Allana “Unless you do really want to change it later? Ill still like it im sure.”

Allana smiled at her dragon. “He only asked because thats whats expected for him. At least I get a choice.”

Lioslyath cocked her head at Allana, a scrap of meat dangling from her jaws. “Im sure Fjallth would support him if he didnt want to change his name. Fjallth is very supportive. Look at him with my twin, helping him be strong for his rider!”

“Looks like we both got lucky with our siblings. Although I think we have more in common than just that.” Lioslyath sighed with contentment, as she continued to eat.

For a brief moment, Vatoz thought that that beautiful, almost perfect specimen o a green was about to choose him. She did not, and as she chose another, he was both pleased and a little torn. Despite all his doubts, with a dragon right there, it was clear that maybe he did want to impress. Wanted to serve Pern as a Dragonrider.

He still had his doubts about himself, but, right now, they were not about the hatching.

He wasn't expecting to see a bronze come out of the smaller Penguin egg, but it did. It was awkward shaped, even for this clutch, and it seemed that it had a bit of a draw for some of the creatures in the weyr. It was kind of cute, and he briefly wondered who he might choose.

He wasn't expecting the answer.

Vatoz! The little bronze was speaking to him, even as he shook, dislodging the pets briefly. It didn't last long, and they glared at him as if he had been the problem. How adorable. He hoped that their owners weren't going to be too upset.

Good morning, Vatoz. And it is a good morning, don't you think? I'm finally here, after all. I am Wapitieth. Try saying that fast, and you might end up with a tangled tongue! It wasn't as bad as some of the names, but he could see where the bronze was coming from

Ignore them. They'll go away if I tell them, but I rather like them. Do you think I can make them do more things? We should try that. They could get me food, if you want, instead of you. I bet they would do it too. The bronze chucked to himself before continuing. What do you think, Vatoz? I think they make rather fetching additions. He turned away briefly to stare at his green sister, but then then, looked back at Vatoz.

"I think," Vatoz said, meeting the bronzes eyes. There was a sense of yes, this was his destiny, that they would be together forever, that this was right, and he smiled down at Wapitieth."I think I can manage food for now."

Shards, he was perfect. He led the bronze over to the table where there was food, offering the other candidates a brief grin before starting to feed his bronze. And, because he was nice, gave a few pieces to the pets that were sitting on his dragon as well.

The brown from The Soaring Gyrfalcon Egg was looking around, not as though he was surprised by anything, but rather just sort of... looking. As one does. The bronze who have come from The Polar Bear Egg, or would when he finally managed to fully extract himself, seemed to be doing alright, although he was currently taking a break from trying to free himself. There were a few sharp edges of his egg that were cutting into his sides slightly, and it seemed he thought it was best to give it a rest before he gave it another go. As if to offset the worry, the tip of his tail was flicking back and forth still, clearly a sign of agitation that his egg, so long his prison as he had developed, had not simply given way to him when he wanted out. But that wasn't the only thing. There were only two eggs left unhatched on the sands, and although The Orca Whale Egg had moved before, it had fallen silent for the time being. The Bristled Walrus Egg, which had been silent until now, suddenly began to stir. The brown from The Soaring Gyrfalcon Egg had given this egg a look before continuing on his way. He clearly had had enough of sight seeing, and after all, his time was running out as he made his way determinedly down the line of candidates. He at least seemed to have a sense of direction now, having taken so long to look them over, scrutinizing every little detail about each one until, it seemed, it would have been impossible for him to have missed anything at all about any of them. That seemed to be paying off now, though, because even if his time was running short, and the call of Between was getting louder for him, he seemed to have a direction to go in, and his steps were very assured. There was no waiver in the step of that particular brown, even if his entrance into the world had not been the most orthodox.

Behind the brown, The Bristled Walrus Egg gave a lurch to the side and then shook again, before lurching the other way. Back and forth the egg shuddered, being pulled this way and that by the force inside of it that was now seeming more and more desperate to get out. With a horrendous noise, the egg split, and bits crackled off, disappearing into the sand around the egg as the dragonet inside, with one last mighty shove, tore the egg, and even the thick membrane inside, apart in one final easy movement. This dragonet, this dragonet was something new altogether. Shaking itself off, the dragonet uncurled, standing up and looking around with a gaze that pierced through all who encountered it. That wasn't the strange and unnerving part, and neither where its headknobs, which curled down to its chin in long swooping shapes that didn't add anything "nice" to this dragonets appearance. It was a large dragonet, but it came from a good sized egg. No, the part that had everyone gasping for what seemed like the billionth time that night was the color of this dragonet. White Pearl, Black Pearl, these had already been discovered, although the fact that they had been discovered again was certainly not to be taken for granted by any, but no one had seen anything like this dragonet before. It was... red. Deep red, ruby and blood, the sky at dawn on the day of battle, and the eyes of the deepest sea creatures, covered this dragonet's hide in an unmistakable way. All was red of some form, although parts were faded to a pale red, most was a deeper red, and put many in mind of rather unpleasant things. Even the parts on this dragonet's hide that were lighter weren't pink, as one might expect, because pink means there is some blue to the color, and this was all stark, vibrant, luscious red.

That dragonet stood up with a quick alertness as it surveyed the candidates at the far end of the hatching sands. There weren't that many left, it was true, but that didn't seem to put off the new... whatever color it was dragonet. It began to move forward, each step bringing it closer and closer to the candidates with that look in its eyes. The look that said that something good probably wouldn't happen, and that here was a creature, intelligent as it was, that could do serious harm, but its steps were also somehow very delicate and precise. There was little wasted movement to that dragons step. It was the brown, who's thorough searching had brought him to his rider, that impressed before the new colored dragonet could even breech the gap between the eggs and where the candidates stood. Aletan, hello. I know I cut that rather close, but I wanted to make absolutely sure that you were the one for me, and it also seemed that my initial calculations went a little awry. I did not expect my egg to give me so much trouble. Ah, where are my manners. I am Heolstarth. Heolstarth stood in front of his new rider, and the true size of him, his body already showing clear signs of extra muscling to his frame, became apparent. He had not really interacted with any of the other dragonets, and moving around, it had been difficult to pinpoint exactly just how wide and deep this dragonet appeared. It was only with the reference point of his rider that something looked amiss, although Heolstarth's movements, even if they had been slow, had not seemed strained at all. Food, and then a nap for both of us. I must say that this whole hatching process does take the energy out of you. It's a very good thing I will only ever have to do it once. The brown raised his eyes and met the gaze of the candidate who was to be his rider, holding the look for as long as possible so that the rainbows stayed a particularly long time.

The applause was a little more heartfelt for that pair, as many had begun to suspect that Heolstarth would have not impressed, and instead Betweened. With his successful impression, spirits that had perhaps sunk slightly began to rise again, although with them rose trepidation, because the new color with that frightening look in its eye, had crossed the noman's land and was now pacing among the candidates. It was weaving in and out of the few who remained, its movements quick, if precise. But everyone had seen, by this point, what a careless paw or claws out of place might do to fragile and tender human flesh, and many were shrinking back away from the dragonet who came so close to them, sniffing at the hems of their robes and curling around them as it tried to get a better sense of who they were, and which candidate, if any, was right for it. This seemed to go on for eons, although there were barely a handful of candidates left. The new color must have circled each one of them five times or more, seeming to herd them into a smaller and smaller area before finally, it stopped in front of one particular candidate. You, yes. I have inspected all of the others, and none of them are up to snuff. You, Haelkathzyriem, you will do well for me, I believe. You and I are going to have such wonderful fun, I do believe. I am Tahkith, and do not let anyone think that I am not as good as the others. I see them gawking at me. I have not missed their stares and whispers, no matter how many hands they put up, but I am not so strange on the inside as perhaps my outside shows. You and me, Haelkathzyriem, we will show them where true power lies. The new colored dragon who called himself Tahkith, for his voice, for all its odd and indeed painful qualities, was absolutely masculine enough to tell the gender of the dragon, reared up and, very gently, places his front paws on the chest of his rider, meeting Haelkathzyriem's gaze straight on, eye to eye, equal to equal as Tahkith balanced with his wings out and tail swishing behind him, rainbows playing across his eyes as they were mirrored in the eyes of his rider.

.../Character Appearance///:
A dark, fogged over forest has somehow been given a dragon form, and that form belongs to Heolstarth. His body is deeper colored and earthen, almost black in some places before lightening into a shade slightly closer to red in others. The color of this, and the pattern itself, make him look like he was brought forth from the depths of the earth, with the deep and darker soil of the untouched ground being turned over and mixed with the lighter colored mulch on top. This color allows him to blend in with the darker forested areas, which won't be found much on the Island and stand out in the sky, but would be perfect in a more woodland setting. Like many in the clutch his wings are far different in appearance from his body, though the same dark brown that colors his bulk spreads up into the spires and sails of his wings. But here the brown is unmixed with the lighter red, allowing it to stay dark, and instead of being blended or patch, resemble stretching, branching limbs of many leaf-less trees. It is almost like a fire has passed through a once lush and beautiful forest, and left nothing but ghostly husks behind. Foggy grey-brown makes up the background for these limbs, though look closely and there is actually many hints of color, swirls of sienna and a color that borders on pink in some places, like maybe, just maybe some hint of a sunrise is creeping through the blanketing fog and ghostly arms of the forest. The edges of his wings seem slightly thinner than normal, color more easily able to pass through these outer sails, and it is then the color is revealed to be more brilliant and beautiful, with the faintest hints of copper and glittering pinkish beige.

Molded from clay that was wielded by the hands of Gods, or so it seems, Heolstarth is quite the specimen of a dragon male. It starts with his head, thick and wide with a jutting forehead and heavy, brooding brows that always make his eyes look darker than they truly are. His headknobs, like all dragons of this clutch, appear unusual, splitting off into two branches on each base so instead of having one pair of headknobs, it is more easily said that he has two pairs, one on each side of his head. The inner branch is shorter, only half the length of the outside branches, and if viewed from a certain angle he might look 'normal', but only when viewed very carefully. This pairing of headknobs does affect his speech, a little, but otherwise seems to cause few problems compared to some of the other weird mutations shared by the siblings. His body is usually what is considered far more interesting, his chest humongous and broad, his legs tree trunks but in perfect proportion to his size and to each other, making him look almost more like a draft type runner than a dragon. Heolstarth's wings are, naturally, pretty huge to compensate for the size of his body, and he will often drag them on the ground as a hatchling and weyrling, and even as an adult if he isn't careful. Because of this constant dragging the sails on the outer edges will probably be tattered and scarred long before that is common for dragons to have such wear and tear on their wings. The shoulder muscles these wings are connected to are giant, leading to the belief that he has a slight double muscling mutation, and these muscles bulge just a little oddly from his chest,

.../Character Personality///: Encouraging and soft-spoken in his own particular way, Heolstarth isn't a dragon to just jump into things. He is a patient creature, and takes his time to make sure everything is just so, and correct the first time around. He abhors doing things the wrong way, and to make up for that, he'll just do everything the right way. Simple as that. He is supportive of those who are close to him, but he is always willing to play devil's advocate. Not in a sarcastic, nasty way as most people might think when they hear that term, although that term on Pern would have to be edited to something else. His way of doing it is certainly direct, don't get that wrong, but it is still gentle, posing questions and concerns in a considerate way that he takes pains to make sure won't cause people to react negatively but rather to think. His opinion is that all conversation should "open up the possibilities of the world, not slam them shut", which is oddly poetic, but then again, that is a little bit of what Heolstarth is like in a nutshell. He's certainly not a shy dragon and is more than willing to put himself out there in every way possible. He'll help, he'll discuss, he'll chase and be on the front lines as much as he needs to because he is no hypocritical being and will actually practice what he preaches. He wants to be a role model for others to look up to, and he does achieve that more often than not.. Has a generous nature, but certainly can be conservative if the others are asking too much of him. He knows how to draw boundaries for himself, and can give a very firm, if incredibly polite, no if the need so arises for him to do so. Heolstarth isn't by any means a perfect person, but he is more a holy man, or rather dragon, and will absolutely fit the model of the new Pernese for how the messengers of AIVAS should be.

.../Character Mindvoice///:
Heolstarth's voice is quite unusual in several ways. He is a lot quieter than anyone looking at him would suspect, though the actual tone seems to fit his appearance more so than the sound level. But while quiet it is also more powerful than usually given credit for, his words insidiously taking over the mind, becoming the only thing the listener can hear. No one is sure as to whether this is natural charisma or a result of his unusual headknobs, and its not strong enough to really take over another person or dragon, just enough to slightly influence them if he talks long enough. Rustling, dried leaves that have fallen from trees and been lying, creating brush for smaller creatures to hide and dart through, the faint, crisp scent of fall as thinks are both living to their utmost and beginning their death cycles, even the far off tinge of warm fires, lit to keep away the beginning creep of winter chill, all these are evident in Heolstarth's voice.
There is also a slight but very evident echo to his mind voice, directly contributed to by his headknobs. Every second or third word he says seems to be set on vibrating repeat, quiet enough not to affect the rest of what he is saying, but adding that reverberation, like a plucked string continuing to sing out long after the hand that played it has been removed. This echo, though usually not enough to be too noticeable, is still enough to mess with the minds of the extremely sensitive and cause them headaches.

Garnet Tahkith, of Haelkathzyriem (Europae)

.../Character Rank///: Garnet

.../Character Codes///: 810505, 3c0800, 0f0000, dfc5c5
.../Character Appearance///:
Tahkith is the first of his kind hatched at the weyr, or on the entirety of Pern as a whole, and will be watched closely along the way of his growth from hatchling to adulthood. Everything is going to be measured and tracked, probably to the point where he and his rider are going to get extremely irritated by how closely they are being watched. What is evident right from the get go is that Tahkith is going to be a big, big boy, obviously of a higher rank closer to Bronze than Brown. He will be both taller and longer than most of his siblings, though his growth will slow down dramatically in his early weyrlinghood and he will only attain his final size a month or so after even his biggest sibling does. As a hatchling he will also be quite chubby, leading many to believe this will be a common occurrence for him and his rank, but instead he will shed these extra pounds easily and quickly, leaving him a svelte and muscularly lean dragon in his adulthood. There will be a stage in between, during weyrlinghood, where he will be a gangly mess, like a foal that has grown too quickly and hasn't yet learned how his too long legs, so he'll often be seen as clumsy, but in reality he will become a force to be reckoned with, learning to control his limbs with a surety and grace unusual in males, but with an inherent sense of power that makes someone just want to sit back and watch him move around as confidently as possible. Most of his power is centered in his body, Tahkith's head is a touch too small and his tail just a little too short, while his body is impressively muscular and handsome to look at, almost perfectly formed for the functions he has to take on as an adult, with well placed and muscled limbs, even his wing are as near perfectly proportioned to his size as they could possibly be, neither too small and making it harder to fly or too large and requiring extra effort to cut through the air. The handsomeness of his body makes his headknobs even more unusual, they drop sideways and outwards from his head like a bison's instead of forming straight back, the lowest point curving as low as his lower jaw, with the outer ends actually spanning nearly a foot from his face on each side.

As the first of his kind, Tahkith's colors will also set the standard for every dragon of his rank to follow. While he will be paler in some places, the colors that show up will be very clearly red, which will earn his rank's name. His entire body is differing shades of red, so many shades that few people could even begin to quantify or name every shade that appears. They range from the darkest of dark reds to the lightest, bordering on pink, though this lighter color doesn't show up in large amounts on any part of his body. A medium shade of red appears on most of his body, overlayed with a feather pattern that runs the entire length of his frame, from nose to tail, toe to wing tips. Each and every 'feather' is slightly darker at its base and lightens at the tip, so there is a gradient with each and every feather, which when combined with the metallic of his rank make him appear pretty handsome. There are darker ruby colored 'feathers' around his eyes, extending back to the base of his unusual headknobs, and then the darker color appears again on his chest, this time with some brighter crimson thrown in randomly so that the contrast is pumped up more. The darker colors end about halfway down his sides, and halfway down his forelegs on each side so that the lower end of his legs and forepaws are all equally lighter colored. Further back on his body, including his hips and tail, the red color of the feathers looks duller for some reason, more grey thrown into the red than is seen on the rest of his figure, and even the metallic looks duller, and no amount of oil will be able to bring out the glimmer that should be there, when compared to the rest of his body. On his wings there are larger feather markings, like what show up on a bird's wings compared to the smaller down feathers seen on their chest or those seen on their bodies, and there are some darker colored markings which almost look like they are floating away from the rest, caught by the wind and tossed further down the wingsails.

.../Character Personality///:
Proud and ferocious, Tahkith isn't a dragon to be trifled with, and yet, he seems to be, at his core, a dragon of odd contradictions. He is a warrior, that much is true, with a fiery passion for fighting thread and proving himself, along with his rider, but there is a gentle side of him, contemplative and full of an expansive solitude. He is capable of the most intricate delicacies, the shifting of an insect on the tip of his claw from one leaf to another, examining the intricate beauty that comes from such a simple scene, but he also revels in the delight and power of battle. He is a dragon of extremes, with a wicked sense of humor and a love of playing to a massive crowd, feeling almost as alive in the center of attention as he will when his life is hanging by a thread in the middle of a Fall, but also of standing along with just himself and his rider, the silence enveloping them. He understands the need for all of these things to create a balance, and although he may spend time in one area for a while, Tahkith will always move away, back through the center, to stand on the other side. He will care deeply, and feel deeply, and love, hate, and experience every emotion there is, incredibly deeply. He is no empath in the ways of blue dragons, but he will be able to listen and understand in that way, and he feels his own emotions very keenly. He is not a dragon who will keep things inside, and he yearns to experience life to its utmost and fullest. There will be no holding Tahkith back if he has set his mind to something, and even the voice of a gold will have trouble keeping him restrained, although a command will keep him in his place. He respects those above him, delights in the rivals who are at his level, and feels an interest so keen as to be a near vow to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

.../Character Mindvoice///:
This boy's voice is... spicy. Really that is the one and only way to describe it. It can range from anywhere to a light cinnamon warmth, just enough to add some 'flavor' to his mind voice, something which almost affects other senses besides just 'hearing', lending itself well to scent or even taste at times, but it can go in the opposite direction and get eye-wateringly hot, like the spiciest peppers known to man that only the very, very few can appreciate. His rider is the only one who will ever be able to put up with every single facet of his mind voice, getting only the more beneficial aspects of Tahkith's voice instead of the more painful of irritating sides. Perhaps it is due to the unusual nature of his head knobs, but Tahkith's voice can be more overwhelming than not for most dragons around him, and humans will find it the same, with even his quieter whispers sounding like shouts to some of the more sensitive individuals around him. Its an unfortunate side affect, but one he can also use to his advantage, since he can use his mind voice to repel or drive away people or dragons who are irritating him, just by releasing the control he has over the strength of his voice. Tahkith will rarely have to put up with someone irritating him or arguing with him for long since he can just start talking and make them have a miserable and aching sinus headache. He has to be very careful about the strength of his mind voice, often holding himself to a 'whisper', and Tahkith can and will forget quite often, most often when he is younger but even when he is full grown and should have complete control over his abilities.

--- Tobas ---

It was almost over.

The half of a bronze was a little worrying too, still struggling with his egg, and they definitely needed...every single dragon.

Every single one. Tobas let out a breath, and as he did so, the Bristled Walrus egg Hatched to produce a gorgeous red dragon. Oh, now that was an interesting color. A shiny red. Tobas couldn't help but start thinking of ways to try and duplicate it in smithwork.

Smithwork.

He might never get to do it again. But he might also...

There was only one egg left, and the brown finally made his choice, patiently walking over to Aletan. "Oh, good."

He was relieved the brown was okay.

He was less relieved than he thought he would be that he had not chosen him. He'd put in so much effort into trying to be brave about the possibility...

...and the red dragon chose Hael. So, only the bronze and that last egg left.

It was almost over, and he could go back to what work they let him do.

Almost.

The bronze wasn't going to choose him, surely, although he was still worried about it. "You too...can you get out okay?"

Did the bronze need help? And was that last egg okay? It had moved, so it wasn't another dud, but that didn't mean it was alright.

But the brown had Impressed. Tobas regarded the bronze almost warily.

It was taking all of his willpower just to be on the Sands without fleeing from the young dragons and all they represented.

Bronzes chose people who could do great things. He glanced around.

There weren't many Candidates left, and fewer of them were boys.

He glanced back to the bronze. "Come on. You can do it."

What mattered was that every dragon survived and Impressed, that every dragon grew to fly.

His own wishes could never be as important as the future of Pern.

He could wish things were different. But they weren't. And even if he didn't get chosen by whatever was in that last egg, there would be more clutches.

He had to either do this or walk away. Except there wasn't anything to do except wait for it to be over, one way or another.

--- K'etha ---

It was almost over. The last two eggs - one had fallen silent, the inhabitant taking a break from the hard work of Hatching.

The bronze in the Polar Bear egg was still struggling. "You definitely did do a better job of Hatching than some," she murmured to her dragon.

The green's first task, and she'd accomplished it well, but there were so many in front of them.

The Bristled Walrus egg cracked open to reveal a red dragon...another new rank or a very red brown? Another new rank, she decided, as she saw the slight shine of his hide. He went to Hael.

Which left one last egg and the bronze. Lacoriath was almost full and her post-hatching sleepiness was making K'etha sway on her feet. "Come on, bronze, get out of there and choose so we can all go to bed."

Well, those who would be sleeping...K'etha envied AIVAS. It didn't need things like sleep...

It was down to the last two. A bronze who had started to move again, and actually seemed to be making some progress this time in getting the rest of The Polar Bear Egg off of himself, and The Orca Whale Egg, which bore a scrabbling sound inside as it shook, although the sound was very faint. With a mighty crunch, the bronze finally managed to extricate himself, shaking his head and shoulders to remove the clingy remains of his egg from his body. As he turned, his headknobs became visible. They were, perhaps, the biggest headknobs that any of the new dragonets sported so far. They were rather heavy on his head, and his neck shook slightly, but he managed to move without too much difficulty. The majesty of them was in the way they were flattened into great almost hand shapes that extended back from his head. These flat surfaces were elevated slightly by short posts that looked like the start of regular headknobs, but then quickly flattened out so that while they might have not been the most heavy of structures, they took up a significant amount of space, and their surface area was utterly unbelievable. It was no wonder he had gotten stuck in his shell. All along the top and putter sides of the flattened portions of his headknobs, there were little protrusions of what looked like smaller headknobs pokes that appeared in varying intervals. This headknobs set was spectacular, and the bronze seemed to know it, basking in the gasps and whispers, turning this way and that as he reveled in the attention. That attention was about to be stolen as The Orca Whale Egg cracked and the last dragonet appeared on the sands.

It was a blue, small and waif-like, or at least so he appeared for a moment before he uncurled. He was still thin, a streak of a dragon with corded muscle that resisted all bulk but which was strong. This blue also sported The now almost traditional odd headknobs is his previously hatched siblings, except his were a little different from even any of the others. His headknobs started out as two at the base, twisting around each other to create a sort of figure eight pattern slightly above and beyond his head, and then at the very top they merged into one another so that neither really had a top, but rather were just continuous. The little blue, tiny as he was, gave a spirited chirp at his brother who was the only one left on the sands. The bronze who wasn’t paying any attention, lost in his own glamor and praise as he was, tossed his head and flicked his tail, accidentally tossing sand at his brother. The blue spluttered and frantically shook its head, giving his bronze brother another look, this one far more sullen, before he cracked the rest of his shell, the bottom in which he had been sitting, and began to trudge across the sands to the candidates. The blue’s step was light, and he seemed to have little worry about as his pace was brisk. He wasn’t going to let his showboating bronze brother get in his way. The blue was good to snag the very best candidate, and even if the candidate wouldn’t have been for the bronze anyway, since it was for the blue, the blue would feel slightly vindicated because he’d won in some small way and have avenged his poor dignity against sand-flicking brothers.

Instead of impeding him, the blue’s small size seemed to make it easy for him to move, like a tunnelsnake, slipping in and out of the candidates without touching or disturbing any of them. He was fast too, and zipped about with a speed that was almost uncanny. He made little noises as he went, although they weren’t enough to hear beyond a foot or two away from him, another precaution on his part to make sure he found his rider before his bronze brother did, and it seemed to be working. There were barely a handful of candidates left now, and the blue was separating them out, at least in his mind until he was circling only one candidate again and again, pacing around them in a way that was almost worrying except for the tiny little size of the blue. It was like being stalked by a domestic feline, although even that could have its perils. Finally, and surprisingly to move, the dragonet seemed to feel that he had been mistaken, and instead of impressing to the candidate who he had trapped, he turned and stalked over to another, beginning to circle them. This circling took much less time, and it appeared that the second time was the charm, because the blue stopped beside the candidate and didn’t look up at them right away, but neither did he move away. You are going to be for me, yes, I can feel it.

Before the blue could impress, the bronze, who finally seemed to have enough of impressing his admirers for the moment, turned to look and then quickly started to trot over to the blue, tossing his head again and flicking sand back and forth with his tail. What are you doing? The bronze’s tone was sharp, but despite how much smaller he was than his brother, the blue didn’t back down. I am finding, no, I have found, my rider. Go find your own. This one is mine. The bronze seemed to be annoyed by the tone of the little blue, and the bronze tilted his head slightly. That can’t be. I haven’t had a chance to find mine yet, and I hatched before you did. I should get a chance to make sure you aren’t mistaken. The blue arched his neck in annoyance, but didn’t retaliate, instead stalking in front of the candidate who he had picked as his rider and tilting his head back sharply so that their eyes met in rainbows and a bond that would last forever. Ignore him. He’s got no idea what he’s on about. I am Onuristh. And he better go find his rider because this one is mine. It was the bronze’s turn to be taken aback, and he actually took a few steps back before flicking his tail again. Fine. My rider will be better anyway. With a mighty huff, the bronze turned and marched with some determination down the line before stopping proudly in front of Tobas. See? My rider is infinitely better than the one my silly little brother picked. I’m Axenusth, Tobas. You can bow now, I know you want to. Or maybe we should let everyone else bow, what do you think? I think I like that idea. They obviously recognize our stellar qualities already, don’t they? The bronze named Axenusth chuckled to himself, raising his head high so that everyone could admire him once more, before turning to meet the gaze of his rider with rainbows in his eyes. Don’t discount me because I was the last to impress. Sometimes you just have to wait out the competition. Let them take all the riff-raff. You’re the best of the bunch, Tobas. This is going to be so amazing.

APC Blue Onuristh of ????

.../Character Rank///: Blue

.../Character Codes///: 5d5e6e, 6c7189, 030031, afc2e1, 3591c1
.../Character Appearance///: There is both bright color on Onuristh's hide as well as plenty of faded colors. His hide is split into two different major layers. The first is the higher layer that appears on the top half of his wings, part of his neck, and all of his head. This color is almost devoid of color and has plenty of grey in it. It is a deeper tone of grey, and broken only by wisps of slightly lighter blue-grey that appear in some parts of this great grey expanse. On the bottom of Onrusith, a very deep navy blue resides, fading to a more vibrant blue around the major markings on Onuristh's sides. These markings appear on both sides of his body. They don't appear on the top of his wings, but rather just on his sides and the undersides of his wings. These markings are pale, but also vibrant in places. The pale part appears on the pale upper part of Onrusith's hide, and there is far less of the marking here than there is down on the lower half of Onruisth's body, where it is far more vibrant. The marking is bright and vibrant planes of color on the lower part of Onuristh's hide. The planes become, in places, nearly as dark as the background color against which it resides, but never quite as dark, and in places it becomes quite light, although never ventures out of the realm of blue. The color up top almost does that, but still retains just enough color and just enough blue to actually be called blue. There are different variants to this lighter grey-blue as well, but the big shift takes place on the lower part of Onuristh's hide where vibrancy actually seems to show up. In between the drab top of Onuristh and the far more vibrant lower half, right where the two meet, there is a clear separation with its own distinct set of colors. This thin line appears choppy and disintegrates into the deep blue abyss below and into the overcast color above. This color also laps around the main markings on Onrusith's hide and just goes to showcase the differences between the colors above and below even more prominently.

Lean, thin, and whip-like, Onuristh just looks like he's going fast. He looks like he goes fast all the time, with every part of his body narrowed down so that he will be able to slice through the air like no other dragon. He is a small creature, and will always remain so. He won't be too small, eventually ending up around twenty three feet, but he will start out as a tiny little creature who is all curves and then sharp edges, everything about him created in a fashion needed to reduce wind resistance. He has plenty of muscle on him, but all of it is thin muscle and tightly packed together. This gives him explosive power and although he is purely a sprinter, his sprints will last far longer than some because of how his body is designed naturally to allow the wind to flow over him and around him without causing too much, if nearly any, drag at all. He has thin legs, and an angular chest that allows him all the more ability to cut through the air as if it was butter or fat, and he a hot knife. Onuristh's wings are very thin and form an odd sort of triangle, with the sails extending down a little farther along his tail than they normally might, while the last finger on his wings, what would be the index on a human hand, is overly long. This triangle allow Onuristh extreme control over his movements in the air, and while he'll never win a marathon, his complex array of tricks in the sky will startle nearly everyone. His tail is very long, far longer than it really has a right to be, and his body compensates by being a little bit shorter, and the same goes for his neck. He sports unusual headknobs as well. It's hard to say, actually, if Onrusith has a singular headknob or two headknobs. His headknobs start out as two at the bottom, both posts located in the correct spot atop his skull, but then they twist around each other, creating an odd figure-eight pattern so that there are three distinct holes. One at the bottom where his skull closes the final portion between the starting point of his two headknobs, one in the middle, and then one again at the top where the tips of his headknobs come together and are actually merged into one, so that he has this very odd and unique little abstract statue of sort sitting on the top of his head. They don't seem to bother him too much, apart from his perception, so clearly they are just oddly shaped, and not deformed in other ways.

.../Character Personality///: Onuristh is a very ticky-poo kind of dragon. Everything must be just so and exactly precise. His rider will need to exercise great patience with Onuristh because he can be quite a handful. He will refuse to eat unless the meat is cut just so with clean edges and is perfectly square. That is just one example of Onuristh's curious personality quirks. He doesn't get upset if things aren't right, and he won't throw a fit or anything of that nature. In fact, it's very difficult to ruffle Onuristh, unless you've offended his pride. It is more than he will simply refuse to do things if everything around him isn't exactly as he wants it. He will be polite and calm while refusing, and he won't move or do anything until whatever is out of place is fixed. Onuristh has a surprising amount of patience for a dragon. He isn't the smartest blue that ever existed, and actually is not very intelligent, around aver for blue dragons, but he does have a very sweet side to him. When everything is correct in his world, he will be quite active and chipper. A delightful goof of a dragon to be around who will adore going on adventures and the thrill of discovery. Onuristh is actually quite a brave fellow and doesn't shy away from the harder parts of life, and will sacrifice his own safety for that of others. The problem with Onuristh really lies in his perception, because it will make having everything exactly right very difficult for those around him. As long as everyone is willing to put in a little bit of extra effort, things will go smoothly and life will be good for Onuristh and those around him. He actually is very much worth that extra little effort on the parts of others because Onuristh doesn't take it for granted and will be delighted to repay those who help him at every possible chance he gets. He has a normally quite sunny disposition, and that bright happiness can be rather contagious, as well as Onursith's love of exploring. It doesn't matter if he is exploring an unknown and potentially dangerous jungle or a well-known and very safe beach. Onuristh's perception means that every outing is full of new delights and wonder for him, and he will amass quite a splendid collection of weird odds and ends. These things range from little bits of string all the way up to more odd finds, but they are all very important to Onursith's world and they, above everything else, will help his world stay ordered. Only his rider will be allowed to touch them, and even then, only when under the direct attention of Onuristh.

.../Character Mindvoice///: Given Onrusith's diminutive size, his voice is almost appropriate. His voice is very high pitched and squeaky, and the more excited he is, the higher it goes. When he is calm, it does get slightly lower, but Onuristh does not possess a voice that is deep or low by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, his voice is also not quite so high as to be piercing. It's very high pitched, sure, but it sounds more like a regular voice permanently raised by some artificial means, like the ingestion of helium, rather than a shrill and unpleasant noise. There is certainly a comical element to Onuristh's voice and while he will recognize that, he will not mind it in the slightest. Onuristh will actually enjoy his own voice and how silly he can sound. There are other elements to his voice as well, although they are all small and rather in the background of his voice, and appear only one at a time so that mostly his is just itself with tiny little sounds in the background that happen occasionally and usually only to underline a word here or there for emphasis. The first noise is the soft crunch of fresh snow that holds a slight squeak to it as well. This appears in Onuristh's voice more often when he is thrilled or excited by something, and will be one of the most common extra little sounds to appear in his voice, as he is often excited or started by something interesting. The next is a quick snap of a twig, and this sharp, brittle little sound will come up when Onrusith is anxious or nervous about something, or if his pride has been hurt and he's upset about that fact. Given his brave nature, this sound will not be common at all, luckily, as it is the only piercing sound in Onuristh's voice, and even he will not enjoy it. The last sound is a soft hum that is generally far too quiet to hear, but when he is happy, it will become more powerful and resonate just on the edge of hearing.

.../Character Rank///: Bronze

.../Character Codes///: 909068, 474726, a2a371, 3a3a1c
.../Character Appearance///: Stunning in appearance, Axenusth's body has... well, not a lot of markings on it, not really. Mostly his body possesses one large marking that's made up of a whole bunch of little bits all put together to create that one big marking. His base color to his hide is a pale greenish bronze that shimmers mightily even in the lowest light. This color appears everywhere on him, and mostly on his wings which have the highest shimmer of all to them. His wings are mostly devoid of any markings at all, unless you count the brilliant shine that seems to emanate from his hide. Over his head, neck, shoulders, back, legs, tail, and up the front part of his wings, the markings on Axensuth's body appear. They look to be armor of some sort, leeched of most of its supposedly once dazzling color and now appearing a rather dull metal against his otherwise brilliantly metallic hide. The markings do not have the same shimmer to them as the rest of him does, but that doesn't matter, because they do still shine, and they are not so great on his hide as to take up more than perhaps thirty percent of him. These dully metallic markings appear to be different sets of plates that have been lashed together to form a set of armor that seems to move and contract with Axenusth's movements. Here and there on his hide, where each of the plates seem to come together, there is a lighter bronze, far less green but no less bronze, strap that seems to come around and connect on the other side of the marking, so that the straps appear to go around Axenusth's chin, neck, chest, legs, and so on. From the metal, in places, dangle pale bronze-yellow markings that look astonishingly like icicles. They appear in different sizes, shapes, lengths, and clusters, all hanging rather forlornly from the dully-metallic markings on Axenusth's body. Of course, there are no real plates, no real straps, and no real icicles on his body, but the way his markings look, they certainly seem to suggest all of those individual elements. If you could get Axenusth to stand still for a moment, perhaps because someone was telling him how utterly handsome he looked, it would be possible to see the likeness between Axenusth's markings and his body to a statue in the north, frozen solid metal hung with ice.

A robust boy, Axenusth is just brimming with muscles. He doesn't quite possess the double muscling present on some other dragons, but it is a close call, and no one would be surprised if his children did have those extra muscles on their bones. He won't be the biggest bronze, length wise, to ever grace the sky, but neither will he be shy of anything at a fifty feet. That's a medium sized bronze in length, and then in height, he has a little bit extra to him. Again, not enough to say he has any form of gigantism, but he certainly stands taller than the average bronze if only by a few feet. He will be proud of his appearance, and rightfully so, for he will have a long thick neck, deep chest packed full of flight muscles that keep him in the air for long and fruitful amounts of time, and a very long tail. His body is a little bit compact and shorter length-wise than one might expect, but he makes up for this with the length in his neck and tail, and most especially his tail, which is graceful and has an excellent curve to it. His wings are also something to note, because they are long and thin, which would normally cause problems for him in the stamina department, but his muscled nature more than makes up for it, and indeed, these long wings give Axenusth some added maneuverability and speed in the air that one wouldn't normally see in a bronze. These are by no means the same as in a green or a blue, but Axenusth will be able to out maneuver his bronze brothers most of the time, or at least until they catch onto his tricks. His headknobs are something to consider as well. They protrude from a quite boxy and large head with heavy eyeridges proceeding them, and his headknobs are just... stupendous things. They are massive, not necessarily in weight or bulk, but in surface area they will cover a huge amount of space. They start a little forward from average with most headknobs, and then they branch out, coming close to each other in the center, but never quite touching. They are flattened and tilted up slightly, so that they look like a human-hand in some ways, cupping at the air gently. Branches protrude from the top, where they are longest, all the way around the outer sides, where they are shorter, each one with a gently rounded tip. These headknobs are Axenusth's crowning glory, and he loves them dearly, not caring that they may make him look "odd" to other people.

.../Character Personality///: Self-centered is one way of putting Axenusth’s personality. He certainly seems to have a good helping of self-love in there, and this is backed up by so much confidence that ir’s A wonder that other people don’t drown under it. Axenusth isn’t the type of person to put others down when he’s exalting himself. It’s actually rather the opposite. Of corse, the idea is that Axenusth is the best, but the others around him, since they are in fact, around him, must be pretty spectacular too. Axenusth isn’t a bad person by any means, but he is a very proud creature and could possibly take over everything by sheer confidence if he wasn’t so busy staring at himself and admiring how gorgeous he is. That being said, Axenusth also has a love of being the charmer, and boy, can he charm. His methods are full of sincerity and he can turn anything into a compliment for someone else, exalting their marvelous virtues as he uses his quite extensive vocabulary to woo whomever has his eye at the moment. Male, female, Axenusth isn't one to judge when the muse strikes him. He must simply follow his passions and embrace the visions of beauty before him with verses of lyrical language. It is, in a way, a performance. Axenusth loves the attention and never will he feel more alive than when he is performing. Still, he does hold affection, real honest affection, for those who he spends time wooing and even if his attentions can be rather fickle, it’s not because he lost interest or no longer find that particular individual attractive, but rather that there are just so many who need to be told of their grace and elegance. He will be quite the confidence booster, because Axenusth won’t just find “conventionally beautiful” attractive, but will find sheer delight in even the oddest of his fellows, from their minds all the way down to their tails. He has a passion for life that is nearly unrivaled, and Axenusth does enjoy sharing this passion with everyone. He is incredibly motivational, and if he put his mind to it, although he absolutely never would, he could persuade even the most hateful of anti-dragon to love him. He does respect other's opinions, as long as they aren't about him not being the greatest that there ever was, and if anyone can get him to stop talking for more than a micro-second, he will also enjoy listening to others too. He won't have the greatest attention span, even though he is a bronze. He has a very good memory, about average for his rank, but he will jump from one thing to another because, to him, there just isn't enough time in the day to account for all the amazing and wonderful things that can happen and that he must see. He is, at his core, an optimistic creature, with a burning fire inside of him that would be impossible to quell, no matter how much someone tried.

.../Character Mindvoice///: Larger than life, Axenusth’s mindvoice seems to fill up every little bit of available space. It pours relentlessly into every nook and cranny and leaves room for nothing else. His voice can very easily overpower other dragon’s voices. It has a honey and whisky quality to it, smooth with just a bit of burn in the best way possible. It’s the voice of a suave charmer, and in that way it fits Axenusth perfectly. It’s deepl and rich, with that hint of sweetness to it that makes it all the more palatable and although it will be hard to get a word on edge-wise with Axenusth, because his mindvoice is hard to hear over as well as his chatty nature, listening to his voice will be enjoyable. He is a good dragon to give speeches, if you can keep him from talking about himself and sticking to the point. There will be times when this is easy. When Axenusth’s considerable passions are inflamed, he will wax poetic at great lengths about the topic that has so insenced him. Be this a female dragon, a male dragon (he doesn’t discriminate when it comes to to great beauty in other dragons), or a lengthy dissertation on the vileness of thread, he will be nearly unstoppable and a dragon who’s natural charisma leads him to very easily persuade others with his luscious syntax and glorious metaphors. There is a very slight warming quality to Axenusth’s voice, it heating the mind up. It’s not quite a physical sensation, but he certainly can be mighty inspiring in the very best ways possible. If a voice could be sexy, then Axenusth’s voice would absolutely be drop dead sexy with a side of willing seduction to go along with it.

--- Tobas ---

It almost seemed as if the bronze was listening, because he redoubled his efforts...and finally broke free.

Like the white pearl, he had insanely, excessively large headknobs and it seemed his problem had been that they had gotten caught on the shell. Unlike the white pearl, he was having no problems holding them up, but that was mostly because he was stocky.

And dang if he didn't strike a pose. An actual pose. Bronzes did have that reputation for sometimes being vain...

...and Tobas couldn't help but hope AIVAS' cameras caught it so that the bronze's rider could tease him about it later. But it was also hard not to admire the bronze - he was big and sturdy, he had those spectacular headknobs and he was shiny even by bronze standards. He radiated a confidence Tobas wished he could find in himself. The echo of the Tobas that he dreamed of being - confident, experienced, a master of his craft.

And the last egg...cracked open to reveal a blue. The last two dragons, safely Hatched. The bronze...flicked sand on him. Probably an accident, but the blue snorted and then headed straight for the remaining Candidates. He went to circle one of them, then seemed to think better of it and switched targets.

The bronze padded over...were they about to get into an argument over a Candidate.

Could that happen?

Banter. He could feel the banter, he could almost hear it between the two. Something about the bronze's rider being better as he padded away from the blue.

With a very determined stride. The bronze didn't have that many choices remaining on the Sands, but Tobas could sense that he didn't care. Or that it made no difference.

That he would have made the same choice had he cracked shell first. That any choice he made was right.

Self-confidence. He felt it as the bronze...

...what?

Right in front of him. The stocky bronze, his markings like a guard's armor dripping with icicles, the shimmer of his hide was...

...right...

...there...

Believing in him. Choosing him. It was overwhelming for a moment as their gaze met, for a moment it was hard to hold on to who he was, and then he was more...

Shards...

There was no arguing with Impression, and perhaps he could have fought it, but no, you didn't.

For a long moment he stood frozen, unable to move, and then his hand reached out to run along one of those spectacular headknobs. "Axenusth. You had to choose me."

You are the best.[/axenuth]

Nobody had ever called him the best before and although he knew it meant the right one for Axenusth, the best of those there for his...

...bronze...

He wasn't supposed to Impress a bronze.

[axenusth]You forget who you are, T'bas.

"And who am I?" He vaguely knew he should be escorting his dragon to the feeding stations.

A future Weyrleader, of course. At the very least, you are a bronzerider

He pulled himself together. He got himself steady, and felt the ravening hunger in his dragon's belly. "Right now, I'm the rider of a dragon who needs to stop posing and eat."

[avenusth]They're all looking at me.[/axenusth]

T'bas laughed. "You...did you Hatch last on purpose?" he accused.

He felt as if he wasn't even the same person. No, he was the same person...just with some of the doubt he'd felt replaced by the feeling of Axenusth.

He glanced up at the crowd - who were, yes, mostly still looking at the last bronze pair, and then guided the stocky bronze over to the feeding grounds.

--- K'etha ---

And...oh good. The bronze broke free - and he had the biggest headknobs of the lot - and the last egg hatched.

It wasn't quite over - the bronze and the blue seemed to have little dance on the Sands before settling on their Candidates. Safely Impressed.

Only one dud. No dragons lost Between. The dead one was a reason to be unhappy, but...the live ones were a cause for celebration.

She lifted a hand to the last two of her fellow weyrlings. Both dragons were gorgeous, too, the bronze large, muscular, and extra shiny, and the blue had a white collar on.

K'etha looked at her own green...she was, yes, more attractive than any of them and smiled.

She was a dragonrider. Now they just had to grow up, learn to fight, and help save Pern. Right now, she believed they could do it.

Right now...

Eijo'vikos of Blue Daegnyth
Exit

The blue rider watched more and more things unfold. The other two unhatched eggs have finally broken out, revealing two more dragonets who impressed to riders. Finally, the hatching is done. He smiled and turned to Daegnyth, who was simply observing the events unfold. The hatching is finally finished, master. He mutters, smiling at the healer. The dragon suddenly yawns, making Eijo'vikos chuckle softly. And... I am quite sleepy now... can we go home?

The healer takes one last look at the hatching. Everything is fine, now... save for the dead dragonet, but everything is finally alright. The dragonets have finally found their riders, and the candidates are happy. There are still a few injured, but he was sure the other healers will be able to handle them with care. Taking a deep sigh, the healer nods in agreement. Sure thing. Let's go home.

The dragon blinks in response, then stands up from his spot. He nods at Eijo'vikos, who walks up to him and rides his back. Nodding at the blue dragon, Daegnyth grins and launches himself into the air.

And then they were gone from the hatching room.

Lailie of Green Gaivath
Exit

Lailie runs a hand through her red hair, nodding to herself. The hatching is done. The dragonets all find their riders, and everyone is happy. Save for the dead dragonet, but everything is fine still. Now she has found much more hope. Pern is about to face threadfall, and they need more dragonriders to help defeat thread. Lailie has found the hope in these new riders.

She heard Gaivath chuckle happily. A new hope for Pern, my lady. She said, with Lailie nodding at this statement. Pern has a new hope. Defeating threadfall is not going to be easy, but we have new hopes that we can survive.

Lailie giggles, patting Gaivath. Indeed, Gaivath. She says. The wingrider turns her head to the sky, noticing that night is about to fall. Now, come. Let's go home. It's getting dark.

Gaivath puffs up smoke from her nose before turning to the skies, nodding. Both she and Gaivath fly away, heading for home.
